Yes, how many times can you think of when the audience has been audibly booing at the ESC? Russia 2010 with "Lost and Forgotten" is one example i can think of, though it wasn't as audible as i remember it, they definitely booed every time Russia got a point during the voting :p

The other prime example was of course Dustin the Turkey for Ireland in 2008, and deservedly so, not just because it was totally unlistenable crap but it was an outright insult to the whole contest:

And apparently Iceland 2006 was booed too, though i hardly remember it:

During the voting, I remember they booed last year when neighbourly countries were exchanging points, and also during the SemiFinal results in 2007 I think it was when not a single Western European country qualified.

Also in the Cypiriots voting from 1997 to present .. all the booes will go to Greece entry every year at end of voting, because we know that its unstopeable that Cyprus will give the 12 points to Greece for the eternity.

Greece votes 2010 (05:23)

Cyprus votes 2010 (7:06)

Cyprus votes 2011

Gotta luv some booing! Booing against pure diaspora/friendly/political voting, aswell as booing against obvious mock entries are well deserved!

However booing against countries on stage just because of the country (which probably will be the case about Armenia this year), is quite sad imo.

Woah, so if I'm Russian and I like Russian entry I deserve booing? wow. Way to go
Low cultural people (mainly in OGAE sectors) who don't deserve their tickets and should be escorted out of the venue.
Give tickets to those who rate performances, not national minorities or countries.

England Football fans trashed Luxembourg's football stadium a few days before eurovision so naturally the UK got booed

That's not what I wrote?? I wrote when the points are evident case of just friendly or diaspora voting, obviously no musical choice could be booed, but there are alot of people (maybe not you) that vote for countries and not songs. It's unfortunate, but it's common.

This is what you wrote!!
People from diaspora have no right to like/vote for the entries of their origin

"There are many people".... do you have any stats that shows how many people vote just for countries?

That's never what I wrote, certainly just your interpretation ;)

The evidence are the people who say "oh it's *put in country name* I will vote since that's my origin* and then you ask them "but what about the song?" and they answer more like "no, not important, it's my country blah blah, have to support it*

It's impossible to interpret something obvious ;) Booing diaspora voting is well deserved as appeared.

I'll repeat again. Is there any proven evidence that it's brainless voters and not people who actually liked the entries? No.

So why would you boo the whole voting? My family pays in order to vote! People boo the whole voting - this is how it looks/sounds.
They boo our choice and thousands others' choice. Escort them out of the venue! :p

Silvia Night is the most hilarious and provocative ESC contestant in recent years. The Greek media went mental with her sorties, especially the "f*cking Greeks" incident.

I never got the appeal of Silvia Night xshrug

I know it's an "act", but to me she was never funny, her song sucked and her behavior was just juvenile, idiotic, arrogant, disrespectful, retarded... the list can go on forever.

I want to see what's "fun" in acting like a pure moron, but I can't really see it sorry. Now I'm not really having conventional humor myself, but to me this is just tragic.

I think what I find hilarious in Silvia Night's behaviour is the contrast between how over-the-top she gets, and the serious and outraged response she gets from the Greek media. Note that Silvia Night was not the only controversial entry that year. For instance, Lordi caught a lot of flack because of their attire and "satanic" performance.

Maybe... I mean there were some aspects that were funny in it all, but overall I couldn't really get into her act the way I guess was supposed to? I mean I know she was just an act so I guess I should have that in mind, but fore some reason I can't.

To me it didn't even came across as sarcastic, just more as she was genuinely an idiot  I think there's a fine line between "funny" and "annoying" and imo she crossed that one. I'm not against weird comedians and maybe in a different forum this might work, but now.. hmm.

But humor is really subjective and something personal.

I'm really sorry for the people that don't get Silvia Night's humour, I even find it more unbelievable such people exist, but oh well.

It's more than just an act, Silvía Nótt is a character on a TV show. It would be the same thing if say Grynet competed in the ESC as Grynet and not as Elin (the girl behind the character). Ágústa Eva (who plays Silvía Nótt) was in full character mode the entire time.

I loved Silvia Night. :D

I know that Sylvia Night is a character from a TV-show, however I believe for something to translate well the public need to "get it" aswell.

Oh, I'm not sure really what to say about her. In some way funny, not sure though if it was the right forum though. I guess I feel a little too protective of ESC or something

I didn't like Siliva Night, either. Actually I thought the studio version was catchy and kinda fun however the live performance was a disaster. It was a failed attempt in humor and I'm glad that Europe didn't go for it.

But in general I say "No" to booeing, it is disrespectful. Of course I don't agree with some of the song choice or the voting. Do I get annoyed at Cyprus/Greece, Moldova/Romania etc exchang points every year? Absolutely but instead of booeing, just don't clap or cheer for them. It would be even more powerful if the audience wouldn't respond at all...silence can be very powerful :D

Wether or not you agree with a song or voting, booeing is poor sportsmanship.
