A lesson learnt: Azerbaijan CAN fail with bad vocals! (I'm refering to 2011 :p)

You know, it's still hard to imagine that :az: won in 2011 with Running Scared and they ended up 22nd in 2014 with Start A Fire

They won because they did one thing they didn´t do this year. Something called "cheating and buying votes" xwhistle

No, they won because the edition was weak, without a clear winner, and their song, being late in the draw and being the only favourite and contender that had a good draw, managed to stand out a bit more than the others and win.

Then, explain to me why :at: won this year despite having a bad running number compared to :nl:? It´s the same thing, :nl: was together with :at:, :am:, :se: and :hu: the hottest favorites this year. :hu: had a good number too. xthink

The hype around the starting number you get is being overdramatic as hell

The only thing that matters is which songs you have before and after, not which number you get. :at:, :se:, :am: and :ua: finished in top 6 despite having "bad" starting numbers. That confirms that if you have a great song, it doesn´t matter which number you get.

Do you even need to ask why :at: won? There's a reason :at: won with almost 300 points.
Conchita is a symbol for LGBT rights and that everyone can be who they are, the song is about rising from hard times and be proud of who you are. Conchita also has a heart of gold and a really good voice. And after Russia making laws against LGBT Conchita obviously got a lot of votes by that.

But for god sake, I know why :at: won. I´m not stupid X-OI xgaah

I was asking DanielLuis how :at: managed to win with a bad running number (the whole fuss about that is quite pathetic).

Because the two situations are completely different. Austria clearly had an entry completely outstanding from the rest and would win in any running order, while in 2011 there was no outstanding entry and no standout song, which meant the running order actually played a much bigger role. If you ask me overdramatic is saying that Azerbaijan stole the victory in 2011, specially considering they didn't even win the jury voting.

Azerbaijan have been cheating buying televotes, not only jury votes, you know

I wonder why everyone, every year are still being overdramatic over which running number each country gets then? I´m pretty sure that , :de:, :se: and :dk: would still have won in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013 even if they had an earlier starting position because they just like you said about :at: had acts that was spectacular

I recall Ireland winning with starting number 3 in 1994 and Turkey with number 4 in 2004.

Seems like years ending with the 4 are good for early starters :D

If the song is great and deserve to win it will do it from any running order xshrug

But Azerbaijan maybe had a possitive running order, but this song was definately not a winning one

:az: won the public voting 2 Points ahead of us back in 2011

No.
223 of Azerbaijan were all televoting points + San Marino voting.
San Marino jury gave 10 points to Azerbaijan and 6 to Sweden.
So the REAL televoting results are:
1.Sweden 215 points
2.Azerbaijan 213 points

It is only two points xshrug And btw why all this discussion about Azerbaijan here? They flop this year, they won at 2011. Deserved or not the did it

To say that  and :se: will leave because of that is like saying that :sm: will win the World Cup in football, very very unlikely
