Voting only for the finalists

Sadly I cannot measure the impact on the jury vote in 2008 and 2009 ....

There are no split vote results available on the Internet.

In 2008 the juries were only back-up in both the semis and the final.
In 2009 the juries were back-up in semis (+ joker) and 50% in the final.
From 2010 onward the juries have 50% in both the semis and the final.

Would it make more sense if only the countries that qualified for the final could vote in it? I believe that it cut significantly the diaspora/bloc voting and the contest wouldn't be so predictable anymore.
What do you think?

I also think so. And although I am an Austrian, and we always struggle with qualifying, I am not too keen on voting for a song.

But I am also not a typical Eurovision fan. I am more into statistics, not into the songs, which I find mostly horrible and even worse than mainstream pop.

Also, I would suggest a new allocation scheme for the semifinals. The Top 18/19/20 in terms of qualifying in the past should all go into one semifinal, and the unluckiest half of participants so far should also go into one semifinal. This would also balance the chances for qualifying.

Even though the finalists' vote seems to benefit Bulgaria most of the time, I would definitely say "No" to this suggestion.
