If we're talking Robbie Williams then the ship has kind of sailed on that to be honest. He has always turned down the idea of representing the UK at the contest due to 'politics' and when pressed seemed like he'd only do it for the UK as a last resort. His primary choice (at least the last time I heard him interviewed on the matter) was to represent Russia. Which in hindsight might be why he did the opening for when Russia held that football tournament a few years back to get his hat in the ring so to speak. Personally, I'd rather go with a newer act. And no someone who rejected it in the past.

Sophie Ellis Bextor being mentioned today in Daily Mail, they are saying that 'she is the act that the BBC wants'. And sounds like the partnership with TAP Music has ended.

Hmmm. She's not a great vocalist.

People have been tapping Bextor to the contest for well over a decade at this point and given how recent the contest has passed I'm going to say this is nonsense to try and sweep up some post-Eurovision clicks. Now all we need is for an outlet to mention Lilly Allen, Little Boots, and someone who was on the X Factor five years ago and we'll have the set.

Don't think that would be a great choice. I don't know if she is still popular in the UK but outside of Britain she is a one-hit-wonder with murder on the dancefloor and that song is over 20 years old. Kids of today outside Britain have no idea who she is and women in their 40's rarely get good results in ESC (Loreen and Linda Martin excluded).

This is what I think, I'm calling it rubbish, filler and all. Plus I don't really want this either-I want someone new and fresh.

Honestly I'm gonna miss the partnership with TaP if its 100% ended-2nd place with Sam, 25th with Mae but those resulted in top 10 hits anyway. Would have loved them to stay, as would have many others really. Just hope they've left the BBC with tips!

Konstrakta was 43 and she got a Top 5 result thanks to televoters. I don't think that age is important at Eurovision. It's all about the song. I think they should continue to work with TaP. Mae got a Top 10 single. I hope that motivates TaP.

All I can say without getting into discussing Bextor as an artist is that it is waaaaay too early to be getting into "This person is doing it" Territory. The contest was only a week ago. I could see the bosses wanting her to do it because she does shows for BBC Radio and it would be good cross-promotion for them, hypothetically speaking (though not enough to be worth it in my opinion). A decision on if TaP does it will likely be made in September/October. If we learn about it around then or not I don't know. But the Junior contest might be a hint. I think they did that last year.

And if you take that into consideration we had 2nd place in 2022, 5th place in Junior (with 1st in televoters), and 24th in 2023 but with a top ten single. There are good reasons for them to do it again next year but we'll see. I'm still worried what the BBC might do without TaP given their track record and what the bosses might demand for the sake of content.

What's your favourite current British artist? Mine is Lianne La Havas but she does not fit to Eurovision at all, lol.
