Lol - he played all the Eurovision songs except Molly!

(Although maybe it's because they only play the new entries, which Molly isn't?)... still Top Ten! Yay! Hope she stays there.

Didn't really see this coming before the contest. Although, after that performance on Saturday, I am not too surprised. She was very poor vocally, she didn't leave any impression on me + her styling was a complete disaster. The song was average to me since the beginning too.

Also, I didn't like the way some people behaved, as if the song would totally dominate the contest, and as if ESC didn't even had to take part at all, as if only the trophy award ceremony was supposed to be held, and we're off.

It is about time for BBC to choose someone who is doing well in the charts in this moment and with a good song.

You could say that about any other member who enjoy's their own countries song. To single out the behaviour of those who were excited they liked their own country's song for the first time in a long one is rather unfair, most of what it said is in good humour not from a place of entitlement.

I think we would love someone who is charting really well in the UK (and globally probably) to represent us and show us the current music trend. However would anyone like actually do that for the UK? no. Eurovision holds too much of a bad reputation in the UK as a career killer. Plus most of them wont even need it because we're a music exporter and not an importer so they already get great coverage abroad. If the UK win at some point, then I'm sure some would be be open to the idea.

Why do you all keep clinging to the belief you need a rocket chart singer? Nobody else does. Most ESC singers (winners included) are unknown people seeking to launch their carreers and so have they almost always been. Why should UK be different? xshrug

No, it is not about enjoying their own countries song at all. It is about arrogance and an underestimating view on things. I never liked that approach anywhere. That has nothing to do with liking the song or not. And don't worry, the people on who I meant are a minority (though a loud one) and they have this approach regardless of whether they like the song or not, and it indeed has nothing to do with the song at all. They just have this "We are the best in the galaxy, and you are all tiny worms and our slaves" kind of view generally, and then it is reflected this way as well.

I was replying to what milos-Bc had said earlier actually about us choosing someone who charts well for a change... I didn't feel the need to qoute because the conversation hadn't moved on xshrug If you read what I had said properly instead going off on one then you will notice that I clearly state that while we would all love for some amazing singer. none of them would ever say yes to doing it because they don't need to, and because they don't want too because of the reputation. Don't worry I'm under no illusions.

What comments are you exactly referring to. Because I'm at a loss as to anyone who gave such an impression.

I'm completely at a loss to what you mean then. Because I don't see how you can say it's underestimating views on one hand and then arrogance in another.

It just honestly seems like you have a bit of an agenda, because I've seen none of that here unless you're on about tongue in cheek comments with the intention of being humorous. Again, I will say you're acting like judge and jury of the behaviours of people likening their song for a change. I apologise but it's how it's coming across.

If you say these comments in other threads then fair enough but I haven't seen them.

Ok, I'm sorry ;)

It's a fact however that this thread is generally unusually worried about famous names. That they have no wish to take part in this affair is something not exclusive of the UK. I believe it's the same with fairly all the artists everywhere too, although I admit to UK artists being more worldly known than others.

Still, it is not yet proven that an established artist with lots of experience in videoclip making, album releasing and concerts giving is the best option to succeed at the 3 minutes pressure eurovison test. Maybe even lady gaga would fail? I dunno, but that's certainly a possibility.
Eurovision has its rather unique ways which are yet to be fully understood :D

You get uber-patriotic fans from all countries. I could list some from the UK and Spain and Romania and Armenia and carry the list on, they're present all over the forum. Yes there are even some strange patriotic UK fans that'd even support our 2008/2010 entries, which is their right to do so (even if they really do suck!). We've not had anyone saying things like We are the best in the galaxy, and you are all tiny worms and our slave and I take offence that as a moderator you've singled the UK thread out when actually ALL countries have a couple of users who love their song regardless, and can act a little stuck up. However there is noone I've read in this thread being so bulshy and arrogant (I should know i've been here most days). You may have misunderstood the British humour in this thread about we're winning with 420 points and noone can touch us, but that's all for a big laugh and noone was being serious. I feel quite offended the first time since 2009 we had the potential to do well, we've got quite happy and excited, which result in complaints such as those you have just written. Ridiculous.

I don't know what other forums or places Milos-BC visits but in his defense I will say there were places on the net where this year some (not all) UK /Molly fans started acting like those hardcore militant Sweden fans xshifty

But this form is much more tame and none of that happens here with UK or Sweden fans this year or in the past

Militant. oh my, that made me laugh. Anyway, if that's the case he should be saying that on those forums and not start having a go at us lot.

I didn't see that as humorous, but I'll keep that in mind next time. ;)

I really didn't think that I had to point out that getting 420 and yolo-swagging to victory was actually just banter/joking about. Especially considering the sort of comments about it that were made.
