Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

BBC Criteria :

- X-Factor/Britain's Got Talent reject
- Not famous
- Never had a number one
- Not likely to win
- Charismatic & charming personality to get Brits watching
- Preferably starts their name with a J

:D

Charismatic & charming!? Oh no no no. The BBC's style is 'bland & forgettable.'

I loved Josh really... In a 'I want to mother him and take him home and make him tea' sort of way. Not for his singing though.

Everything else is pretty much spot on! ;)

I admit, Josh had a certain puppy-dog quality about him... I wouldn’t say no. Christ I feel like a dirty old woman, despite the fact that I’m not that much older than he is! :?

Nah, I don’t think one of them has been arrested, I do know that there was a death hoax surrounding Barry or something... I did find this curious piece of info on wiki though (yeah I'm sad):

In April 2007, while on holiday on the Greek island of Kefalonia, Paul broke his nose and received cuts and bruises when he lost control of his motorbike after suddenly braking to avoid a shepherd and his flock of goats. British tourists who stopped at the accident, instead of helping him out, shouted out the Chuckle Brothers' catchphrase: "To me, to you."

Oh dear oh dear....

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

I think Eliza Doolittle would be perfect for the UK Eurovision in 2011 because she is quirky & current. Also she the daughter of former 1994 UK Eurovision entry Frances Ruffelle, who apearred in Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals Les Miserables & Starlight Express. Can you see the connection !! ;)

The only problem is she said in a interview that she maybe not do the eurovision because it a bit cheesy but at least she didn't say definitely not !!

Anyway here is a article about why she should do the eurovision.

http://melodimen.blogspot.com/2010/08/wanted-for-eurovision-2011-eliza.html

So what are your thoughts ? Do you think she should be our UK entry next year ?

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

She’s not bad! Her style is not really my kind of thing, and the song posted on that site isn’t remarkably memorable or catchy, but I can see her potential for popularity among other people! (Yes, I like sitting on the fence).

She’s a bit similar to Lena, so if she is entered, people might start accusing the UK of getting on the Lena-success bandwagon. She’s a better dancer though.

If she were entered, I can see her achieving a mid-table result.

Personally, I would like to see the UK enter a rockier song (something only Scandinavian countries and Turkey seem to be doing these days), as the UK has produced some of the world's leading rock and Indie bands, but, unfortunately, I can’t see this happening anytime soon. Plus, I think I’m pretty much alone on this one.

Eliza already said she wouldn't do Eurovision. I thought she was quirky at first with her song Skinny Genes but she kinda got too repetetive with Pack Up always being played :/

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

How about somebody like McFly or James Bourne & Matt Willis from Busted because they are back working together on song for Busted.

Also it seems like Tom & Dougie from Mcfly & James from Busted are intrested when it came down to last year UK eurovision entry

Here is a article about what they said on Twitter about are UK Eurovision last year.

http://www.fleckingrecords.co.uk/20...t-think-much-of-eurovisions-josh-dubovie.html

What do you think ? Would you be happy to see them be the UK eurovision entry & do you you think they would do it ?

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

I would absolutely love McFly to represent us! I really love some of their songs and I think they would do well at Eurovision. Also, as they are current and modern, I think they would raise the profile of Eurovision in the United Kingdom .
Not sure about a reformed Busted though... they are a bit out-dated now lol.

I think Shayne Ward will do very well as Jade did in 2009. I think it can happen, cause Shayne Ward has somewhere "Eurovision formula". I have his 2 cd's (my friend from UK sent it to me by mail ), He is very good singer and I would really like to see him in ESC. He is great live performer with amazing voice. No doubt, SHAYBE WARD FOR EUROVISION!!!

Well there is almost no chance for a month selection like Jade had as the BBC have "So You Think You Can Dance?" on again even though it flopped last year :/

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

Yay! Shayne Ward with a song written by Barlow, that could be a winning formula.

No use for some Idol-ish selection crap...

Bring on a good song and a good singer finally!

Lets hope the BBC make it happen because if they use the same system as last year to find are UK entry, then I think we should protest outside the BBC studio !!

We could always have this band represt the UK because it camp & very cheesy. Plus the lead singer said he want to do the Eurovision !! The band is called Starman & the lead singer is Andrew Stone from Pineapple dance studio.

Here the band on a UK TV Show.

Also here is a music video from them.

What do you think ? Would you like them to have them as your UK eurovision entry or would you be embarrassed ? Also where do you think we would finish in the eurovision with them ?

^

Thank you but no thanks haha.

The song was ok-ish, but campy acts ain't doin it for me and usually doesn't work in ESC either.

What's so hard with just having a serious act with a current-sounding song?

Everyone is praising Jade, but that song was sooo old-fashion and Disney-ish. I liked the singer though. But it would be good with both a good singer AND a good contemporary song for the UK finally.

I mean we all know you CAN do it if you really would want to.

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

I do agree we do have good acts & good songwriters in the UK but I think it might be down to the BBC on forgetting what the general public want & I think we need it to be less cheesy like you said.

If I had my way I would have The Tings Tings as are UK Eurovision act because if you watch this video, they are everyting Eurovision should have, which is catchy songs, camp but not cheesy camp (i.e Scooch was cheesy camp ), represent the UK music scene very well & is cutting edge which the UK NEEDS !!

Anyway here is the video !!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVbtBLZxL6w

So what does everybody think of the band ?? Do you think they are right for the eurovision ?
