Very unusual of you to genuinely root for someone.xshrug

Really? I always have my favs every year? xshrug

Let me just say that Ukraine is actually not my personal fav this year, but it would still be a worthy winner (just like Italy would imo).

But my personal favs I see little chance for winning, with that said Ukraine is still in my top. 5/10, it might climb into top. 3 we'll see. If I would judge the whole package, it's a top. 3 for me, but only the song it's somewhere in my top. 5/10.

I don't know. It's all new for me.

Well, maybe seeing the light of the tunnel after this whole bad year is lifting my spirits ;)

It's kinda changing, but Russia remains my favorite entry this year. I don't really want Russia (the country) to win and host it though (duh), and I think it won't happen anyways, but as far as song goes it's my fav. Israel has also been slowly but steadily climbing into my top. 3 and yeah, I think Ukraine is there soon (or maybe already).

You're really into oriental sounds this year, aren't you? And my taste this year is suddenly mainstream. I'd love someone from top 6 to win. xshrug

That is why I've always wondered, who are these people betting money on Russia this year? They forget that Eurovision is a political contest, lol.

I hope so too, but have they ever proven us wrong though? xshrug

The juries are the most predictable and boring part of this whole contest...
"1944" is an example imo.

2016 featured many mainstream pop acts juries could have favored more, and yet Jamala ranked second with them.

"Shum" is divisive but I'd find it hard to ignore the fact its artistry stands out so much in the current lineup. I agree it represents everything they don't support generally, but I want to believe this effort is too impactful to get blanked. Top 10 should be mandatory, top 5 if they really did their job seriously (for once).

From there, televoting will certainly take care of whatever difference there is to take the crown. Given the signs of enthusiasm shown in Europe, I would not be shocked if they annihilated the competition and left crumbs only to the others. Fingers crossed xcheer

Am I such an awful person normally? If people just knew me irl outside of this forum, not to sound cocky but I think you'd find me pretty fun to hang out with ;) Comments in a forum is one thing, it's more a way to consume time (which I have too much of these days).

We're all expecting a struggle for it in the west, but I'm starting to wonder if it's the Balkans we should be worried about.
I dont think so...
Here in Serbia ppl love it..
You really shouldn't, it is so similar to our traditional singing.. We are Slavic..
Maybe Greece is not so used to this and Albania..
And look at Nordics.. xup
The biggest problem imo can be Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, UK.. The far West Europe..
But we will see..

I always felt that them pushing "1944" was a mixture of their obsessions with "big vocalists" and also to block Russia from winning (there I said it!), because it wasn't really their cup of tea (except for the vocals and tempo maybe) so I feel it was more an exception if anything.

I hope your analysis is more correct though and cross my fingers too that they indeed do their job "correct" for a change...

I can't see this missing the Top 3 in both jury and televote.
This is one of the safest bets for the top 5 this year.

I loved the entry from the beginning and the staging only elevates it. Wish the group all the best tonight. You will receive some votes from me! xheart

Nobody is awful, alright? Everyone's great. xlove

So you're into traditional stuff for the sake of traditional? Tell me, that you liked Azerbaijan 2019, please. I was rooting for him.

I mean, it's hard to fully grasp who someone is based on online comments...

Nah, not for the sake of just being traditional? There have been some bad examples of entries which used ethnic elements in the contest too, but in general I appreciate it because to me it's sorta what the contest should be about, to showcase your country.

I didn't like that entry no, and I don't see why it is put together with ethnic-inspired entries? It had a very limited portion of that but the rest of the song was kinda wannabe American xshrug

I'm counting on y'all.

Portugal is good, i think. It has a sizeable Ukrainian diaspora. The others idk. It was trending in Belgium and the UK.

As far as diaspora goes, I think you're pretty safe:

Portugal, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Germany, Russia, Latvia...

But I think (and hope) the entry can collect televotes on its own merits and not on diaspora alone...

No, i insist that everyone is great.

Let's do away with prejudice
Don't discriminate, tolerance is bliss
We got to get together on this
Cross this problem off our list
I may stutter when I speak
(But) you don't need to call me freak
It's not trigonometry
Inside we're the same
xlove

Me too, but i taught myself not to restrict my taste only to traditional stuff. Because having only those ones in the contest is nothing but daydreaming right now.

I like different stuff though, outside of Eurovision I'm a big sucker for indie-Pop and R&B for instance (two genres we barely get in ESC though)

Sorry xshrug

Oh, everyone likes something else outside Eurovision. But these are just our fantasies of how the contest should be. And it's not like we're right and they're not.xshrug
