SHUM is a mixed bag for me. I really want to like it. I think I love around the 2 minute mark where the whole thing slows down. That's atmospheric and such a mood. It's a shame then that I actively dislike what follows with that monotonous beat returning but sped up. Maybe it's their thing but to me it sounds cheap and that persistent drum loop adds such monotony. Go_A's music works best I think when they have a rich, thick, dark atmosphere for Kateryna's voice to cut through. Her haunting vocals are wasted whenever they go nightcore mode. The bits I do like in this song though are too good and so I'm up for the challenge this year. I'll keep trying with SHUM. I already like it more than Solovey, and I'm glad Ukraine continue to deliver us unique entries.

Well the melody is really VERY similar.Already seen people calling for it to be disqualified because of plagiarism.
I remember that we had a heated discussion years ago in the last NF in Russia that I can remember. Alexey Vorobyov participated with this:

I don't remember if the EBU stated anything if this song would have been accepted had it won. Anyone knows if there was something official regarding that?
It's a tricky thing to find the right way between making cultural references and violating the rules of originality.
I would hope that Ukraine can send this. We cannot have another drama with withdrawal!

It is currently battling for my first place with France (and currently has just bumped France down to second)
I actually prefer this to Solovey. Something about it is just entrancing, I particularly love the beat and the instrumental - when it starts speeding up and you get that flute (like instrument?)
I am mildly concerned at what they'll cut out to get it down to 3 minutes, hopefully that won't dull it down

It's impossible to violate copyright, thus everyone who creates their version has the rights to their own version.
According to the law, folk songs are considered a national treasure and people are encouraged to share them, for free.
As for Eurovision. Since 2016 Ukraine has always been consulting with the EBU on questionable lyrics, release dates etc. Before submitting the entry officially

The official (also revamped?) version of the song is out in March.

I also like it a lot, but I am not completely convinced. I give it a , but very likely soon a 12 when I hear the 3-minute version. I thought actually that 4 minutes were too long for this song, so I might like the shorter version a lot more.

Feeling the same. And would have bet that Go_A will easily top their entry. Still like the song but I miss that touch of optimism Solovey has. Maybe the 3 min version will change my mind.
