Well not a secret that many young Ukrainian performers and band use Vidbir as way to let people know about their music without clear desire to go to eurovision, we have so many unusual no names every year and a few big names (this year very few) Probably Go_A never imagined they could win (you can also see it from soloist reaction), especially after semifinal where they weren't loved that much by jury, with televoting was better. Also odds were against them, so the winner is shocking, everyone is happy but next morning they wake up and omg we really won and go to ESC and we need money because we weren't prepared for that
It is not funny! xcry You are butchering my heart and my soul..

If they have a good set of songs they might work their way into some festivals throughout Europe. If Solovey is the quality they normally deliver there's definitely an audience for that. Just so happens to be that the Netherlands has a stupendous amount of music festivals.

They do festivals for years but most of Ukrainians never heard of them

Anyway they obviously find money and go Eurovision, i have no doubt. Just I wasn't surprised that they are looking for money because who would expect them to win

Btw wtf these jury votes even  and cant believe Tina placed Khayat only 4/6, even lower then David (xfacepalm) or it was her revenge for Khayat openly saying her idea about Kazaky was shit? Or she wanted to pretend she is super fair?
Just like when she said that she wants to perform in a duo with FO SHO and then gave them 4 pts out of 8?

Vidbir is full of surprises.
Going into the final if you told me that Khayat would end up beating both Tvorchi and Krutb, I'd be delighted......but then Go_A happened!
I'm just glad they won the televote by a fairly decisive margin too or else I'd be fuming at Tina for ranking him low:oops:

@AlekS did you see what Taras Topolya from Antitila said about Go_A winning? xrofl
He & his wife are in very good relationships with her ex-husband. Elina Ivashchenko's sound producer.
But the level of despair is phenomenal. The dude doesn't even know our folk... and that paranoia, I just can't xrollinglol
Have you seen what Axelrod's wife is posting? Also David liked hateful comments against Vidbir. One of their former co-producers is hating too: "all those homos and vegans are too much already!" LMAO!

All the haters are digging themselves deeper and hyping Go_A even more.
Vidbir will never stop being such an entertaining mess xpopcorn

Red is our traditional color which represents love/blood/guelder rose (you can see guelder rose on the background ;) ). Guelder rose is the symbol of Ukraine. It's featured in the lyrics. It represents a girl in our folklore. Our folk songs mention guelder rose very often. Modern songs too (including the song title).

Black represents sorrow. Check our legend who died of cancer 2 decades ago (she's got Oscars & Golden Globe) and this song about red & black called "Two Colors":

White (why don't people see there's also white? :ROFLMAO:) stands for divine powers (you can see runes). Purity & beauty if you talk about young girls or boys. In older age groups it symbolizes parents (mother is also mentioned in the lyrics, as someone who can punish her for falling in love with someone she doesn't approve. The girl in the lyrics basically says that love is more stronger than patriarchal prejudices).

Our traditional clothes usually feature only those 3 colors ;) With blue & green to a lesser extent.

This also screams Bataknese and I'm living for it!!

This is spellbinding, can't get enough of it atm, what a serve!! Upgrading this mystical banger to a :12: With last year's Bond, but make it house, song and this year's transcendental electro smash, I think this is Ukraine at their peak for me.

Kind of embarrassed for him. What exactly is his point? That the lyrics are about Russia?
That it's semi-Russian folklore because of Vanyusha. The ignorant рагуль didn't know that we've already had our own name Ivanko for centuries :ROFLMAO: + he should read Taras Shevchenko, study Ukrainian grammar and especially suffixes.
That part about necromancy... xrollinglol He sounds like a crazy grampa on drugs o_O

Love how they incorporated several aspects of the Love Love Peace Peace recipe. Folkish elements combined with a DJ & drums  I guess the flute can be counted as the violin in this case.

Ah well, not a fan. Her stares make me feel uncomfortable (probably her intention, but ugh) which makes it difficult for me to look at her in return. But it polarizes, so it will for sure have its audience.

I totally understand Topolya because now we have situation in country when our elites try to bring us back to Russia. But Solovey (at least for me) has nothing to do with secret operation to represent Ukraine as Russian little sister. wtf

edit: moreover, Russian bloggers and users seem to dislike our entry, while I expected opposite. but still, no surprise in bigger perspective
