1944 is much stronger than Suus for me. Like, Suus is a sort of weird sidenote that I can appreciate, but 1944 is art.
Juries can spot vocal talent if nothing else, and Jamala's vocals are insanely strong. Even if she was singing happy birthday she'd get through to the final. Combine that with European sympathy to Ukraine (and antipathy to Russia), combine it with hopefully even better staging, combine it with what seems to be a weakish year for Eurovision, and combine it with a song that is impossible to ignore and will absolutely be remembered come voting time, love or hate, and Jamala is looking straight at a top 5 finish and possibly the win.
