Re: UKRAINE 2016

I don't get SunSay at all. I think Jamala would be ideal, and I wouldn't mind The Hardkiss either.

I was surprised that the jury placed NuAngels so high, especially Danilko, he sounded absolutely lukewarm when he criticized them (there was talk about them being great performers and respected colleagues but "typical" for ESC, not necessarily in the positive sense.) NuAngels deserved at least the criticism Petryk got, can't understand why the jury were so blunt with one and gave the other a free pass.

Plan to vote for Sunsay, Pur: Pur or BSB. Not because I like it so much though their songs are more listenable for me. Because I think that my country should be represented by high international level singers (and I can't see here the songs of Jamala, Nuangels and the Hardkiss)

Lolwhat. Jamala & Hardkiss are WAY more popular on in the international level rather than Sunsay & the rest.

Music taste aside, but if Jamala or the singer from Hardkiss can't be considered "high level singers" then I don't know who would qualify...

Despite what they may have said I think The Hardkiss is a one time opportunity and also to me have the clear winning vibe. Ukraine winning would be great.

Agreed. Jamala's song is more popular locally, but Helpless has a more international vibe, and it would for sure do better at Eurovision. With the standard of songs looking as it is, it could win. Jamala would probably get 10th-15th imho.

My only concern is the lead singer's vocals. She needs to up her game.

I don't care about their popularity. I'm evaluating taking into account their concrete song for ESC. Hardkiss are really good band but they chose one of the worst song they have and the worst I could imagine. That's why I hate them for this and hope they'll back next year with something like "Babylon" or "Stones". With "Helpless" they're just a cheap copy of The "Garbage". The same with Jamala. Her previous "Smile" was way better. xbeee

As a lifelong Garbage (not The Garbage) fan, I can assure you it is nothing like what they do.

I personally found Jamala's Smile cringeworthy and never understood the public support for it... 1944 feels more in her right current element me thinks, a proper and authentic song with heart and sould which is what ESC needs imo.

As for The Hardkiss, I haven't properly listened to their back-catalogue so can't make a proper judgement or comparison, out of the songs I've heard I really love their Ukrainian-lyric Prirva (however not sure if it's an original song or cover?).

In what sense was I rude?, together with The Hardkiss she's the one I'm rooting for to win this selection xshrug

Fine but what's that then? 'I personally found Jamala's Smile cringeworthy and never understood the public support for it.'

It's called personal taste, shouldn't be confused with "rudeness" ;)

I also agree. :D I like Jamala's song and I think the message is important but it will never win Eurovision. The Hardkiss are fabulous and perhaps very much reflects part of the current music scene in central-eastern Europe (and nordic as well). If they were Swedish they would never even think of enter Melodifestivalen. How great it would be to see them in Eurovision! Helpless stands out and I think their live performance was one of the best I've seen in the Eurovision context. Well, it's all about Julia actually and unlike you I adore her. She is amazing both vocally and visually with a strong stage presence.

Question to everyone (if you're not bothered by this)

What would your predictions be if you base these on the juries/televote votes in SF1/SF2?
