It's not all about the money (even though it plays a big role, obviously)

The Big 5 are the most important music markets in Europe (Germany's even the third largest one worldwide, followed by the UK, etc.) - That's why artists as well as record labels are keen on knowing that those 5 countries will be part of the grand final so that their artists get the best promotion possible.

Also, viewing figures are part of it as well. The UK or Germany can still submit boring and horrible entries no one cares about (even in their own countries), they will still contribute 15-20+ Million guaranteed viewers

That's why I seriously believe that the Big 5 rule is REALLY IMPORTANT and NECESSARY to keep the contest alive the way it is [even though it might come across as unfair].

Are you guys seriously think that 13 minutes will make the show (even) longer? You're actually saying that it's already too much?! And you call yourselves fans?! :p

Come on, we're waiting an entire year for these 3 nights and they end in a blink of an eye. I'd bring back the one-by-one voting announcement if I could (it's too hard to follow it when the votes disappear so fast from the screen).

Especially last year I felt like the interval act and the voting was never coming to an end, I felt so bored. Maybe shorten the time of those parts for an extended song length?

I think that this superimposed 3:00 is very ... limiting & obsolete. I feel like there are many songs that would have benefited measurably if they were only 20 seconds longer (Serbia, Italy). Very often there is no space for some proper intro / outro that many songs would otherwise have in their ESC-version. I remember Alma's song from France being badly cut (that + English mash-up).

I know it's a tradition, and something that people are accustomed to, but I advocate for making this change, for allowing longer entries (let's say 3:30).

In the past when the ESC was just in its early days (f.e in the 60s) - most of the songs in general (not just at the ESC) were below this time mark. Just take a look at some random songs of the Beatles, many of them are 2:12-2:20, some don't last even 2 minutes. ;) So it made perfect sense then but now, not anymore.

My proposition would make the ESC Grand Final maximally about 13 minutes longer.

in my eyes this does not make sense since nowadays songs are getting shorter. in times of iTunes and YouTube people tend to listen to a song not much longer than 1.30 in average  thus 3 minutes is more than ok.

I think the EBU should have some kind of time quota each year. For example, if there are 43+ song competing in one year each song may be exactly 3 minutes long. If there would be 40 the following year, each song can be a bit longer, as long as the total time quota is 43 x 3

I miss one-by-one voting announcements too :(

We don't need to extend that time limit rule... Due to streaming devices such as Spotify and due to people's limited concentration span, pop songs have become shorter and shorter anyway. Most of Ariana Grande's recent stuff as well as hits by Selena Gomez or LAUV/Sivan last for less than 3 minutes.

It's not my fault that people are getting dumber and less sensitive to music. I like ESC despite the current time limit not because of it. To think that making a show 13 minutes longer would be a nuisance is a mind-numbing revelation. :? I am disappointed in people here when it comes to that. And even then there are always some more or less pointless interval acts and green-room blah, blah chit-chats that can be given a cut. Don't tell me that you can't endure not going to pee for 2 hours.

I wouldn't like more music like that of Ariana Grande or Selena Gomez in ESC or elsewhere becuase I find their anti-musical for me McDonald's stuff terrible.

I stick with this old idea of mine: every delegation should be given a certain amount of "points" and they should choose how to spend them: some may buy extra time, some may buy special effects, some extra people on the stage, some may buy a a certain spot in the running order, some may just add their points to the score.

I feel like extra time limit would help to have more not-pop songs in the contest. For instance most rock or metal songs that I listen to is 4-10 minutes long. But even 30 seconds more would surely make the contest more diverse with less songs that are already revealing some chorus in the first 45 seconds.
