I love the old South African flag, they were crazy to replace it. The new one ignores the White South African heritage imo. I'd rather they just added perhaps one or two traditional African flags to the old flag.

I love St Lucia too, a lot of the Caribbean states have nice flags.

For me the issue isn't the heritage, it's just damn-right ugly to have three mini flags in the middle of a flag, regardless of what these flags represent.

The idea with the new flag was to not include any symbology or references to the past, hence the fresh design. Did you know that it has absolutely no meaning at all?

I'm surprised! I definitely though the red, white and blue part of the new flag represented the Dutch heritage.

We can see that poor color combos, too-saturated colors, and too-busy designs make a flag hard to look at.

Glaris could be cool if better designed...

But, well, the Wallon Rooster, to represent us Gaulois ! 1

As for Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, the flag means the arrival of people on this isolated Earth with the boat (and the explorers, and also the fishing witch is the main activity there...) and the 3 little flags represents Basques, Bretons and Normands, who are the 3 main origins of the Saint-Pierrais.

As for us, the flag of my region is really the ugliest of the whole France ! What a shame !

Yes, it's very phallic...

That's why in my place we use the old province flag if we want to be nerdy regionalists !

That first one looks like an upside-down middle finger

And the second one is much better, but the red line does look like a "no", like on the "no turning right" or "no parking" signs.

It just says that our dukes at the time were from the same family as the kings , but on another branch...

I never saw the interdiction sign, as it's too familiar to me
