Ok so I've just watched it, and honestly it's really terrible. The scene with the party and all the ESC cameos was so cringey and the depiction of Eurovision in it is unrecognisable.

I'm watching it right now. I was skeptical. But the film is great. A lot of clichés but also a lot of truths.

To be fair loves it probably wasn’t made with the intention of impressing hardcore fans. I’m not sure Will Ferrell could give a toss that there were two Latvia’s on the scoreboard or whatever all the Eurotwitter FURY was about.

Soundtrack: really entertaining. Especially the sing along part 10/10
Visuals: very funny 10/10
Story: dreadful. A complete disaster. The worst of all clichés from about every American superficial wanna-be-funny comedy. 0/10
Acting: Dan Stevens plays the Russian closet-sister quite well and I liked that he's not the complete villain in the end, Rachel McAdams is becoming better throughout the film (the beginning is rather bad though), Will Ferrell is utterly unwatchable. The rest - average. So overall: 4/10

All in all, the movie is too long. I'm probably downloading the songs, but the rest will hopefully fall into oblivion very soon.

i actually enjoyed the movie a bit although it was cringe for most parts.

i hardly laughed. The only moment that made me chuckle was when Lars screamed shidd and the iceberg broke.

the Eurovision songs were too camp and dated, zero points for all of them.
also the semifinal voting, the hosts with such a strong accent in Edinburtgh, Lemtov claiming that everybody hated UK, so why are we in Scotland, norton talking over the performance... portrayed really inauthentically Eurovision as it is.
the murder was also gross.

however, I loved the song along. That was iconic. All these stars. and, the final Performance of Iceland was amazing.

Did the movie not make a damn lick of sense in terms of the contest being run? Absolutely. The voting in the Semi-Final. UK and Spain being semi-finalists. Being held in EDINBURGH. There were aspects of the contest that were flat-out wrong, and as a hardcore fan, that distracted me a bit. But I can see why there wasn't an Icelandic delegation waiting for Sigrit after the Semi performance and they did the voting sequence that early, and it was all to build tension and enhance the story.

I wish the filmmakers believed in the American audiences enough to be able to follow the contest itself, but without that history and without the contest being popular here, this is the best they could do. :shrug I get why they used some artistic licenses for the movie, and it doesn't depreciate my value of the movie itself.

Because the movie was funny at times for a Will Ferrell movie. I chuckled at any of the scenes when The Americans showed up and it was just Will Ferrell screaming all of the things eurofans yell anytime you make a suggestion that the United States will be in ESC (mostly kidding y'all!). I howled any time Demi showed up. The songs that represented each country were wrong, but the songs they used had BANGERS. Belarus's song slapped. Finland's song was a bop. The finale song and Demi's song? Wonderful. There's some good stuff there, and it all has a good spirit for the contest.

The movie didn't feel like there was any ill wills towards the contest at all. It was fun and light and exactly what we needed in these times. I maintain that there really wasn't a "villain" in this movie. The story was light, but the writing was lazy and predictable. It's what we're all used to.

I loved Rachel in this movie, she was a hoot and made Sigrit a believable character. Will was awful, but duh. Dan was fine, Pierce was meh, Demi slayed. No acting accolades here, which, again, what else were we going to expect?

Overall, the movie was just a whole bunch of fun and isn't revolutionary. And personally? That's fine. The movie was a bit long, so I'd chop off at least ten minutes to tighten it up. The dramatic tension from the relationship between Lars and Sigrit was a bit much, but again, definitely expected. Do I think this movie will help Americans try to enjoy the American Song Contest if it ever gets off the ground? I think so. I think people will like it. It wasn't the disaster that, admittedly, I thought it would be when it was first announced. This is a fun movie all around, and it'll be great with some alcohol in you.

It was alright overall - by no means a masterpiece but not a total disaster. While the sort of songs they included didn't really represent what Eurovision is about these days, at least the tone of the film wasn't mockery of the contest itself - more the eccentricities of the two leads. Of course, there were lots of inaccuracies when comparing to the real contest - that semi-final voting was a mess! To some degree they have to use artistic licence though, as it is a film. 'Perfect Harmony' is a great slogan. It was a bit of fun - there were some amusing moments even though much of the humour fell flat. The boat explosion left a bit of a sour taste, particularly the reactions of the leads! It was fun spotting the cameos at the party. Out of all the winners to feature as a street singer I wonder why they picked Salvador - he doesn't exactly embody the spirit of the contest! Go in with zero expectations and you may find yourself enjoying it.

The song along makes me feel so good. And Waterloo truly is the most iconic winner song.

I am also hooked on Husavik. I wished to see the scoreboard on fire after this astounding ballad. It is like Eg a lif and Is it true on steroids and sounds like a Eurovision favorite.

i think Molla Sandén deserves an Oscar for this song. She better prepare her acceptance speech.
my third favorite moment was with Salvador Sobral.

It was OK. I suppose it was mindless entertainment for me. The songs were fun what-ifs, though of course lots of things about the contest were inaccurate oddly some of the moments of the storyline and characters did slightly annoy me too.

A very very American film. I think I needed to have been very drunk to laugh at it. Also as much as I loved him as James Bond, Pierce Brosnan should never act as a character that isn't Irish or British, his accent travelled all over the British Isles
