I am still very confused about who will end up winning this year. I can see Nemo getting a top 3 or even win the jury votes. But there are quite a few contestants with great vocals this year! The juries have many to choose from. So I dont believe in a runaway jury winner this year.
And even though Nemo and the song fits the fandom's taste perfectly (in addition I think most of us have a positive bias towards countries that havent won, or havent won in a looong time) - I am not sure the song itself has that instant appeal needed for the general public. I think the Code takes a bit of time to warm up to. And I am VERY curious about the staging and the styling. At this point I am not convinced that Switzerland is a sure top 3 in the televotes.

The hype for this entry has me in despair. The more I see of it, the more I dislike

Many Swiss people watch the Eurovision finale but the contest doesn't have a good reputation here. I don't know if a Swiss win would change that completely, but it would definitely improve it. =)
I'm pretty much forcing my parents to sit and watch with me all 3 shows. xD
They would only watch it sometimes in the past, but since I'm a big fan, they watch it every year with me.

Tbh, the only thing potentially going wrong with the live performance would be the styling.
I don't mind the dresses, of course, just the choice of dresses :D
The need something showstopping. Think Lady Gaga at the Venice Film festival with the huge pink dress. It doesn't seem far off from what Nemo would wear as a stage outfit - it's huge, pink, flowy - but it would look more expensive.

I still think the song is too messy for my liking, but I upgraded my ranking from 6 to 8 :).
It's in my top 3 now.

I think it would be so great if such an experimental song would win. Then hopefully more countries would be willing to take risks and not only send "safe" songs. =)

But even though I have been a huge fan of the Code from the first listen (I couldn't believe that out of all the participating countries, my home country Switzerland would send such a risky song), my only worry remains that the casual viewer will be too overwhelmed by only 1-2 listens of the song. >.<
I'm really crossing my fingers that people will love it from the first listen. I'm putting all my hope on the hopefully amazing staging. Only the staging can help make the song instantly accessible for casual viewers.

Netta says hi!

I still think that was such an awful winner. The message of the song, the whole #metoo movement at that time might have helped a lot and persuaded juries to throw points at "Toy." Because 212 points was way too much for that "song."

Nemo has it all, they have the vocal talent, the originality, and a great message that very few music artists have explored and did such a great job.

Toy had bigger hit potential as a song, was a clean pop song, great production, and of course had a better vocalist singing it. Croatia doesnt tick any of the jury vote boxes, its gonna get less than 100 jury points you will see, around 80 is my guess.

Its Switzerland's to lose at this point I think, and their biggest competitors are Italy and Ukraine which can also appeal to both televoters and jurors, followed by Croatia and Netherlands which can do great in tele but I doubt they will gather a sufficient jury score.

My main reservation about Switzerland winning is I see far more comments and praise for Nemo's vocal dexterity than I ever do for the song itself.

I'd rather not return to winners such as 'I Wanna' in which a lot of the appeal is lost if only ever listening to the studio version rather than watching the performance.

When the song came out, people were strongly discussing the song, were they not? Now everybody is talking about Nemo's voice and performance because that was a factor many people were doubting or just unsure because the song is so challenging and until Saturday night there hadn't been any live performances. Therefore, it's only natural that this is now the focus of discussion.
Now the last question mark is the staging and this will remain a secret till rehearsals since Nemo has stated that they want the staging to be a complete surprise.

Switzerland's skyrocketing odds is a big bluff in my opinion. Bookmakers are clearly proving only one thing: they don't know who will win. This can be deduced from the frantic change of the first in the ranking: first Ukraine, then Croatia, now Switzerland. I fear more the nations in the top 10 that have always remained at the same level or have slightly increased their victory percentage such as Italy, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Precisely those who have remained at the same level or have increased slightly, without major variations (as happened for Croatia, Ukraine and Switzerland) are demonstrating solidity. I struggle to see Ukraine as a real danger and I don't understand the heightened fear of some commentators. If it were not only for the diaspora vote, Ukraine would not be a danger, and if it were not a time of war and 2024 was a little stronger, it could even be an NQ.

What kind of spectacular staging can Nemo bring? Do you remember the rules? No more than 6 people on stage. Assuming it doesn't bring a giant toast warmer like Sweden did last year, what can we expect? A pedestal? Him dressed in a tutu or with bunny ears (Donnie Darko model)? An improvement of the piece that gives more prominence to Gregorian chant (partially stolen from Poe/Austria)? That's all I can think of. Nemo's song however, many haven't thought about it, is not only complicated from a staging point of view but from a vocal point of view. We are faced with an extreme structure that may not be understood and not only that, if Nemo even gets the intonation of a comma wrong the song will appear tarnished.

I may be a crazy visionary but I am of the opinion that Switzerland does not risk victory so much as a surprising NQ. Instead of Lugano 2025, she will take home the new special ESC prize, the "RRRAHHH Award" (dedicated in honor of the first flop winner Ronela Hahati).

Bookmakers aren't really setting odds. They all just follow the odds on Betfair Exchange which are driven by people trading actual money. It seems to have met a resistance at around 4.0 now which is where Croatia and Ukraine sat at for a while before they drifted.

I agree that the price is probably too low now. The odds will probably drift after a week or so. I can see odds for Italy and maybe Ukraine coming back in as they look better value for traders.

It won't NQ though, the song has hype around it and people are talking about it.
