Just went through all of the songs. None of them really caught my ear. I like the fact though that there are songs in french and english. But why not also one in german?

They rarely ever send songs in German, it's a shame. I think it has to do with the French and Italian broadcasters sending songs in their language while the German side doesn't really care so everyone chooses English instead.

In general, I get the impression, that german speaking countries don't care so much about their own language. I mean - look at the national finals in recent years in Germany, Austria, Switzerland - the german songs were very scarce, if not completly absent.... pitty.... Different languages - wheter I understand them or not have always been a main reason for me to love the show...

There is also the notion that German is an "ugly" language so some may just wanna stay away from that stereotype.

It doesn't seem like a very singable language. Its not soft in any way, German is quite a harsh language compared to others.

Just wait a bit, both the eurovision one and the SRF one don't work for me. Probably because it doesn't start till 20:10 CET. so it might connect from about 5 past.

100% disagree xsnooty :(
I really don't get why non-germans think that German sounds harsh... There are videos on Youtube where some people compare english, french etc. words with german words and they say all the words normally, and then they yell the german word. But we don't talk like this at all xshrug I think our language is very singable and also soft, and there are more and more artists in the charts who sing in german.
