Anna Rossinelli's song is still strong on Swiss radio! so happy for her success, despite the last place.

I'm really curious if big names will participate in the national final. I guess no, but since Switzerland qualified to the final this year, there will be more interest.

I know i was so disappointed but it's still a success that they qualified to the final for the first time since 2005.

If you watch her most recent Eurovision.TV interview, she's still interested in singing for ESC. However, I highly doubt her coming back.

^Actually, I remember reading on ESCKaz last year, after the Swiss submission period ended for their selection, that Lys Assia either recorded or was in the process of recording a song to submit to the selection but at the last moment she either decided against it or it wasn't ready in time. I think she openly spoke about it in an interview as well. So it could very well happen, but I honestly hope it doesn't!

^ She told that on German TV, too. I mean, why not? If the song is good. But to be honest perhaps I am unfair now but I would rather see her as a performer singing together with another artist. If the song is classy this could work very well!

Some news about the Swiss NF: According to ESCdaily, there will be 14 songs in the TV show in December, but the artists only will sing 2-minute-versions of their songs.

Only performers are encouraged to submit entries. Composers cannot submit a song if it does not have a performer yet.

Another eight songs will be selected internally by the Swiss broadcaster and will advance to the national final to be held on December 10th. Fourteen acts will fight for the chance to represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. The finalists will perform a 2-minute version of their entries.

DRS3 will choose 3 performers, RTS - 3, RSI - 2.
+ 6 from the I-net selection, if I understood it right.

Two acts for the national final
Switzerland: RSI launches Eurovision quest

Swiss Italian-speaking broadcaster RSI has launched its own selection procedure that will end up in two acts being chosen to participate in the national final, scheduled for December 10th. Both solo singers and groups are welcome.
A total of fourteen acts will compete in the final of the Swiss selection on December 10th in Kreuzlingen. RSI will contribute to the national final show with two acts. French speaking broadcaster RTS will send three entries, same number as radiostation DRS3. The remaining 6 acts will be selected via internet voting. This online stage will commence on September 1st.

Despite the regulations of the contest, stating that the entries must be between 2:55 and 3:00 minutes long, the singers will perform a shortened version of 2 minutes of their respective songs.

All those interested in taking part in the Italian leg of the Swiss selection for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest may find more detailed information here.

Switzerland, with a quite similar selection format this year, managed to qualify for the Eurovision final for the first time since 2006. Nonetheless, Anna Rossinelli with In love for a while, came last in the 2011 final in Düsseldorf.

Here's my ranking so far:

1. Maria Lawson - Champion = 8.5/10 - Great ballad, great voice. I like it and I think that it could do well with a slightly better production.
2. Melanie Jade - Caught up = 7/10 - Only uptempo song among the 5 submitted entries. I quite like it but it's not something that I would love to listen.
3. Georgea Blakey - Get over you = 6.5/10 - It has a good melody but it's kinda blank and forgettable.
4. John Hänni - You love me for me = 5/10 - Another blank and forgettable song. It's just to average.
5. Sara Maria - Sieger sein = 4/10 - First song that's not in English (which is a good thing) but it's really not my cup of tea. I don't like it.

The qualification to the finals from Anna has a very positive influence I think because there are like only, what? Eight songs a.t.m. in the competition and I wouldn't mind already to see two of those in the NF, I even have already a song I'd really like to see in Baku.
