Can't see it winning either. I do think this is better than Estonia so maybe Sweden will cancel Estonia? Because both of them are performing on the first half of the semi and I can not see both of them qualifying.

It's of course fine to just not like something others love. But comments like this are just stupid, to be blunt. I do not see the point in subscribing such a negative Motivation to people, where the actual cause is just simple enjoyment.

I feel like PART of the hype has been manufactured.

By anti-Sweden I do not mean people protesting against their country. I mean anti-typical-Eurovision-Sweden. Anti-polished-pop-perfection. Anti-winners-coming-back.

Whatever you want to call it.

I don't appreciate you calling this to be a stupid line of thinking. It's far from absurd to suggest that part of Kaj's trajectory has been due to a dramatic shift in public opinion against Sweden's typical Eurovision songs - and that perhaps Mans returning was simply the nail in the coffin for people to finally decide that enough is enough with the beigeness.

It's far more narrow-minded to believe that every single person who voted for Kaj did so simply because they thought 'haha silly funny good song', and furthermore that the bookmakers somehow also agree on this fact.

I've noticed there seems to be a trend amongst the fanbases of entries such as Kaj, Kaarija, Joost, and even Tommy Cash, where any criticism can be deflected by simply saying 'you just hate fun'. Talk about defensive.

It feels more like a reverse though. People liked fake, generic and polished pop songs before then the whole public opinion shift towards songs with artistry, authenticity and personality.
KAJ's entry: dated, generic, polished and authentic pop comedy song, Revolution: dated, generic, polished and fake pop comedy song, you cannot be serious about people are anti-sweden since hold me closer are more well liked than Songs like too late for love, voices, unforgettable, and etc.

I dont care for it any more and will say what I think..
If Serbia, Croatia, Poland, Slovenia would send smth like this, this way of singing, this choreo full of gimmics, accordion and stupid repetitive lyrics, banal melody would be mocked and borderline qualifier...it would get 0 from the ESC jury in the final if qualifies... For this, I just can't wait for hyoocrictical ESC jury to see how will react on this in May..
If this wins entite ESC, with 50/50 system representing Sweden I'm gonna think twice if ESC is for me at all, any more...

I showed this to some friends who just watch ESC on the night of the final and don't listen to ESC music like me and fans do, and they laughed to this and told me it reminded them of the dark ages of ESC in 00s when the whole Western Europe was mocking ESC cause of entries like this one..

Both Mans and KAJ are my personal TOP 5 worthy so I'm not even playing favorites here. It's just how i see things based on past experiences, good and bad in regards to eurovision.

Anti-typical-pop-Sweden and anti-Sweden are two very different things.

With the former I agree to some extent, there are absolutely people for whom BBB just being something different for Sweden is a plus. I doubt it would make anyone go "OMG, I hate this, but because it's not typical Sweden I givt it 12 points!". But it can definitely play a role to some degree. I do not see how that is such a bad thing though, and it's not all that rare. It's playing a role in several selections (Germans being happy when we finally don't send stuff that is 'radiotauglich', some Portuguise Fans wanting Henka to send something different from the 'usual artistic ballad', etc.). But again, I think this is a small part. More in the veins of people checking this out at first because "Oh cool, something different from Sweden" - And than sticking to listening to it because they also like it. Something like someone saying "this is an 8 for me, but because I'm so glad Sweden send something different, I'll give it a 10". But again, that Kind of thinking happens all the time.

BBB being liked because of an Anti-Sweden movement basically says people like this to harm Sweden - and opinions in that vein are not even that rare, with people claiming for example that this song was voted for to avoid Sweden winning. There are some people especially on Ex-Twitter downright saying KAJ only won the televote because non-Swedes voted via VPN... to Sabotage Sweden. And I'm not changing my mind on that kind of statement: that line of thinking is stupid. But given you clarified your answer, maybe we can simply agree on that?

@KazNew I wasn't trying to make fun of you, I just didn't understand what you were meaning by "anti-Sweden". I agree with Jupiter comment, I've read some people claiming year after year that there is a hate toward Sweden and that people are jealous of their success in Eurovision. But in my opinion, it is just a fatigue due to a country always playing safe.

I am amongst the people who are critics of the melfest always having the same songwriters and singers years after years after years. But I've never hated Sweden as a country or hated a song because it was from Sweden (and as an other comment stated, I (and the esc fandom globally) liked a lot "hold me closer", which was still a pop song sung in English but felt less manufactured).in the previous years, I enjoyed songs from melfest, I also was bored by a lot of other songs, but that's just my personal taste (for example I liked a lot Mer av dig while I think that it wasn't the most common opinion, lol).

So it wasn't clear to me why you did put anti-Sweden to explain why people enjoy KAJ, and with your new comment I understand better. Sorry that you felt mocked / attacked by my answer.

I agree, I think the insane love in the fandom for this song is partly due to this narrative. But I don't think that narrative is something fandom exclusive. I feel as if the two narratives non-fans are somewhat familiar with are: Sweden takes the contest very seriously and the UK/Germany mostly finish at the bottom. I think in a similar way that Sam Ryder probably got a boost from the narrative of the UK being a permanent underdog, KAJ could benefit from being different from our past entries. Plenty of commentators will also mention our record streak of not singing in Swedish, and maybe something about this being reconciliation for Loreen's victory over Käärijä (this last part I have read in several Swedish newspapers).

I don't think KAJ will win this year overall but i can see a Baby Lasagna kind of result, with probably slightly less jury points. Trenuletul in 2022 had the same vibe and got only 14 points from the juries. This will get of course more because it's more polished but nothing would justify to get like 200 more points with the juries than Moldova that year. They're probably getting 140-150 jury points and my guess for the televote would be around 350 points.
