^ Me during Melfest 2025.

Thank god that the production, the hosts and the jokes have been fun throughout the year, cause the songs this year has been extremely lackluster. Everything so far has been weak copies of what artists done before or has been so anonymous that you just don't care about it. There are some decent ones, do still hum on "Hush Hush" every now and then for example, but most of the time, I can't even remember how the songs go. And this week, well it ain't great either. Måns song is perfectly fine, probably in my top 5 of Melfest the year so far, but it is fairly repetitive and doesn't grab on to me. Andreas Lundstedt has a fine disco tune, but I am already ruling him out, since he isn't that popular in Sweden to be honest. Best song this week actually comes from KAJ. The Finnish boys has an earworm of a chorus that makes me smile a bit and makes me at least forget the boring life for a few moments. But would KAJ be the choice I want in ESC for Sweden?

I don't know really, a part of me feels I want something different and want to go wild and crazy. But is this crazy enough? Not really. Is this good enough? I would say it's almost there. But compare this to Tommy Cash who we are in the same half as and is the closest to this genrewise in ESC so far? Tommy would obliterate us (and I am not 100% sure on that song either to be honest).

So yeah, another week of Melfest where you just hope that something "fine" would go to the final. I wouldn't be surprised that the winner of Melfest is hidden somewhere in the last semi in the end. But I wish we had more than one song that you could vote for in the final...

For me in this heat top looks like that:
1️⃣ Kaj – Bara bada bastu 7️⃣/🔟
2️⃣ Andreas Lundstedt – Vicious 4️⃣/🔟
3️⃣ AmenA – Do Good Be Better 3️⃣/🔟
4️⃣ Ella Tiritiello – Bara du är där 3️⃣/🔟
5️⃣ Tennessee Tears – Yours 3️⃣/🔟
6️⃣ Måns Zelmerlöw – Revolution 2️⃣/🔟

Still waiting for Scarlet that are my only hope for this booooring af selection.

Tumblr, mostly.
The whole performance of Mans leaked on twitter, its literally the staging of Unforgettable meeting the staging of Lesley from Ireland 😭
I have my doubts this is going to win Melfest, let alone Esc
I'm frustrated by how insipid it is yeah.

Like it's still winning because the state of this melfest is GARBAGE and Måns will still do the best at Eurovision but good fucking god, talk about diminishing returns and reheated nachos. If this is any higher than fifth in the Grand Final, it'd be an INSULT to the other acts.

The staging is cute and Måns is charismatic as always, the song is bland however

To Aftonbladet Måns said his song is about standing up against everything bad happening in the world, "like climate change and Trump" lol

To be fair, I think people expected way too much of Mans. If you listen to his other songs he's been releasing over the past few years, they're all in the same style. And in this particular style, Revolution is a pretty good track. However, it's just outdated - both the lyrics and music are very 2000s/2010s. That kind of style was popular enough in 2010s to get Mans an ESC 1st place back then, but I highly doubt it's going to do so nowadays.

ok if mans has the winning song of esc2025 its gonna be a very weak year. the staging must be extraordinary to make this special. the ending is quite good though, but overall quite bland.
i like the other song he released today if i'm correct (broken) more, not a winner either but still. can't say i dislike it, but i did not have the impulse to want to listen to it again

Wait a minute, I have just given a listen to this masterpiece:

You want to tell me I'm going to suffer through losing such a beautiful performance to Mans' uninterestic genericness? I am not delusional, Mans is still most likely winning Melfest, but I just want to say, Greczula's performance was incredible. I don't know how or why it only has a 3.6/5 rating on eurovisionworld, but to me it's absolutely amazing.

The revolution snippet looks like it could be advertised by the White House or some western european populist party. Everything about this entrance is just sickening me and I guess it will win.

Revolution is just a rehash of Heroes pretty much just like Tattoo was a rehash of Euphoria.

Maybe it’s just me that finds this kind of critique as lazy and as uninspired as what is being claimed about the songs

How dare an artist do something similar to a successful entry and that matches the tone of their discography?! How dare they indeed?!?

Revolution is not a revolutionary song - far from it - but it is a very Mans song. Much like Tattoo was a very Loreen song.

Having a song match the style of the artist is a good thing. Some of the most successful artists in the world are constantly ‘rehashing’ what worked before - and yet in Eurovision land, you can’t do that.

Frankly doesn’t make sense to me and using the term ‘rehash’ is just a lazy get out when you could just say you don’t like it.

the staging feels like a comedy act

KAJ fundamentally are a comedy act. They're great at what they do, and they're serious about their music, but they don't take themselves too seriously. They do have the best song of tomorrow's heat, but that's another story.

The song of Mans isn't any ''revolution'' but it's a serviceable, catchy EDM-pop tune from 2013 or something. I haven't watched the performance, only heard the studio song. Hopefully Sweden doesn't go with this.

Everything about Måns returning bores me to death. I also don't wanna go through another Loreen 2023 situation in the Eurovision fandom again. Even the journalists in my morning newspaper comment on just how mediocre the song is but that he'll win the heat anyway xD

All I want is for us to send Klara and her uplifting banger of a song since she has tried SO MANY TIMES NOW to win. 2025 is also shaping up to become the year of divas/strong female entries so she'd fit so well into the line-up.

Exactly, and the lyrics from the part shown in the gif I used when she goes "One day, maybe you will love me" just breaks my little heart as the poor soul is just pleading for the acceptance of the Swedish public, and I doubt she's going to get it again cos snarky Måns has showed up.

Klara and Neea Rivers will be on my Spotify Wrapped 2025, I'll make sure of it - just wish the Eurovision stage got to see them both 😭

Måns' return is becoming quite the villain arc lmao. So many international Melfest fans do not want him to win.
