The very little amount of comments in this Sweden thread shows how much we definitely do not care anymore for Melodifestivalen, especially in the beginning. Other countries are proposing far more competitive national finals and, might I say, far less predictable.
Obviously hoping for some better songs in the coming heats, Dotter, Clara, I especially look at you, but it's a bit of a sad disgrace if we look what was this show like 6/7 years ago.
I honestly think that after 3 victories in 11 years it's a bit like .. who cares about anything but the finale. The hunger and thirst just isn't there, naturally.

I don't understand why, but I don't absolutely love Elisa Lindström's entry. I mean, it makes me smile - but... Have I finally moved on from the MF pop schlager that used to drive me insane in this selection?

Growing old is weird (and based on the age demographic votes, I should be liking this type of song more than when I was younger...) xstars

Tumblr, mostly.
Well last night's show sure was one of the shows of all time.

We heard six songs. They sang some words. It lasted for three minutes. Then one song qualified, and then another.

To be fair, we got the final shows of :es: and  and one of the most anticipated NF amongst fans :ua: whilst :se: presented us the same old songs in the "first show of 6" - Melodifestivalen will get a lot of attention throughout February/March, for sure - especially when the likes of Dotter, Clara Klingenström and Danny Saucedo compete.

I know that :se: has been blessed with exceptionally brilliant results in recent years and after winning Eurovision, they might not "want to win again" (at least, the producers would like to have a break, probably) but it's no excuse to let generic and non-competitive songs be performed in Heat 1 - at least, :se: could have given us something more unique, interesting, progressive or simply different.
But again, they fail to do so. SVT basically just gave us ":de: Wildcard" quality last night (slightly more engaging but still...)

The "best song" which also directly advanced to the final is a very formulaic Schlager song with a guitar to make it "more rock".

Yesterday's semi was simply boring and uneventful. Sweden can do better - even IF "the hunger is not there to perform well" again.

Yeah it was bland, I agree...

I am usually not writing this every year, but this year it´s true, one of the worst Melfest Semis I can remember... only liked Elisa Lindström, even SIP were weaker than last year

I only just watched snippets of the semifinal, gotta say i'm very disappointed with the smash into pieces song, especially the lyrics are a huge cliche cringefest imo. And apart from that its as bland as it gets.
My "fave" was Adam Woods and i did not particularly like that either
Hope the next rounds will have some more special songs

Btw. Shoutouts to SVT for the incredible Interval-Act.
Totally enjoyed it.
Curious to find out what SVT still has in Store.

Love how the majority of people just completely ignore A*teens original material - even in the Semi on Saturday, they performed 2 of their original tracks bookended by the Abba covers.

They released more original material during their time together than Abba covers... But sure, they're just an Abba cover band xshrug

I have been obsessed with A*Teens for years (walls covered with their posters kind of obsessed :p) Now it's just... a nice memory, I suppose :giggle:
