Am I the only one who doesn't understand why Swedes are so ageist? What's the point of dividing people by ages?

Because most of the voters are young and Laurell came 2nd and 3rd respectively in the youngest 2 age groups.

These vote presentations aren't as exciting as the producers envisioned when 6/8 groups have the same top 3 in the same order.

Yeah, it really doesn´t make sense to even come up with such voting procedure.

Maybe it makes sense in the final when the quality and quantity of songs are higher but as long as Melodifestivalen producers only place 2 solid songs in a single heat, all age group will probably have them in their Top 3 anyway.

Alternative maybe, but they often struggle regardless. Young artists usually have no problem qualifying, hence the two finalists tonight.

But is this practically useful? Because if 10 older votes have the same power as 100 younger votes... you may end up losing points in Eurovision, where most of the points come from young people too and there's not an age division

I'd send her DTF, absolutely. But i feel like that extra spark is missing tbh. My Melfest winner must be in heat 4.
If not, it's gonna be Wiktoria with her weakest try to date. Sweden screwed up this year

Laurell's masterpiece deserved to qualify.
M&M were pretty good, but the ending to the song is unfortunately weak. And it really resembles "Every Moment" a lot, even the melody is the same at one point.
Paul Rey, extremely forgettable, same with Nordman, whose vocals and stage presence were not on point, to say the least.
Melinda Wrede, weak vocals and unimpressive performance, really thought Laurell deserved an AC slot instead.
Whatever-her-name said absolutely nothing, and Casanovas, yurrrk, the singer looks like a high school teacher accused of touching girls. Glad they didn't qualify!

Thank god Maria is out of the picture. It's Loreen or M&M and either way, Sweden will preserve its status as a Eurovision powerhouse.

As much as I like Maria and her ballad and I have to say I would also prefer M&M to win. This would be a strong entry.
