Re: SVERIGE - Sweden 2010

I also thought Manipulated has been the best song and performance thus far at Melodifestivalen but if the Swedes chose Eric Saade and "Manboy" then this was way beyond their taste. I also give a thumbs up to Andreas and Salem al Fakir, they were great too!

Re: SVERIGE - Sweden 2010

interesting esctoday article:

esctoday.com is on Goteborg this week covering the third Melodifestivalen 2010 semi final. As the first rehearsals get underway,esctoday.com is at the Scandinavium to cover the rehearsals. Remember, clips of this weeks songs will be available online tomorrow on the official SVT website.
1. Alcazar - Headlines

Alcazar return to the Melodifestivalen stage for a second year running with Headlines. A year on from their first direct qualification to the Melodiestivalen final, this year's entry may be lacking the beat of stay the night, but the band's vocal harmonies are now stronger than ever before. With strong choreography and four female backing singers on stage, the band are making a strong bid to break the all male-solo list of qualifiers for Globen so far. Performing today in trademark matching colourschemes and tops, the outfits for Saturday are set to be the most raunchy yet by the band!

2. Johannes Bah Kuhnke - Tonight

Johannes begins rehearsals for his Melodifestivalen debut with the apologetic ballad / rock entry, Tonight. The song starts with a simplistic piano accompanyment to his vocal, building progressively. He stands alone at his microphone stand with accompanying musicians placed around the stage. The performance is professional, but may not have the confidence that it will have on Saturday.

3. Elin Lanto - Doctor Doctor

Elin returns for a second Melodifestivalen assault with Doctor Doctor. After appearing with Money three years ago and reaching the second chance round. The singer, who bares a striking resemblence to Gwen Stefani has big stage presence with this song. The pop/rock entry is performed in front of two female drummers and three male dancers to give the song added oomph! With long blonde hair blowing all over the place, the traditional wind machine goes into overdrive for this strong entry, that might not be a Melodifestivalen winner but has the feel of an international hit.

4. Erik Linder - Hur kan jag tro på kärlek

Erik Linder makes his Melodifestivalen debut with a performance that throws up memories of the Eurovision Song COntest of old. Performing the first of two Swedish language songs competing this week, Erik takes centre stage for his uplifting ballad with big nordic drums and swaying backing singers. The song is simple and goes down well with the accredited press. With the first two semi finals seeing all qualifiers for the final as male soloists, Erik's entry might just take a place at the final this weekend.

5. Getty Domain - Yeba

Getty Domain makes his Melodifestivalen competition debut with his African-French style entry. Dancing centre stage supported by six muscle male dancers, the strong African beat and haunting vocals has an immediate impact. With a red background on the video screens and smoke blowing across the stage, it's visually one of the stronger entries this week. Whether Sweden will vote for a song that is not in native Swedish or English language is yet to be seen. Traditionally, songs have not faired as well in other languages here. Last year, Sophia qualified for the final with a Greek language song via the international jury vote, which is absent this time.

6. Timoteij - Kom

Timoteij debut in Melodifestivalen with a strong Swedish ethno-pop entry. The four blonde girls each have an instrument on stage, going from left to right, a violin, guitar, accordion and flute. The song combines modern pop beats with traditional nordic music to good effect and perhaps would do better in the Eurovision Song Contest than Melodifestivalen itself. The girls perform the song well, but are young and perhaps seem a little nervous on such a big stage. With two days to go before the live show, the song should get stronger before Saturday.

Darin seems to be the major favorite after today's rehearsals.

I can't wait to hear the snippets tomorrow.

Clips from semifinal 3 are out: http://svt.se/2.123450/1.1870490/tjuvlyssna_pa_bidragen?lid=puff_1870490&lpos=lasMer

1. Darin - You're out of my life
2. Timoteij - Kom

3. Crucified Barbara - Heaven or Hell
4. Elin Lanto - Doctor Doctor

5. Alcazar - Headlines
6. Getty Domein - Yeba
7. Johannes Bah Kuhnke - Tonight
8. Erik Linder - Hur kan jag tro på kärlek

Re: SVERIGE - Sweden 2010

This is what I think:

1. "Headlines" Alcazar 4p
It's a good song, very new and fresh and does not feel like a Alcazar-song. Sounds like a disco/pop song of 2010! Would not be sad of seeing it through, despite the little ridiculous lyrics that takes away a point from me...

2. "Tonight" Johannes Bah Kuhnke 3p

A little too repetive, but a strong song with a good singer it seems. Like this little Queen/Robbie Williams feeling over this song! Can make a surprise if he does the preformance well! :)

3. "Doctor Doctor" Elin Lanto 4p

Another strong popsong this semi with a slight touch of the 80s. The chorus is easy to remember (much easier than Alcazar suprisingly..) Not among the favorites this week, but could make it to AC like last time! :)

4. "Hur Kan Jag Tro På Kärlek?" Erik Linder 1p

The song has nice lyrics (written by Kenneth Gärdestad, very known lyricswriter in Sweden, brother to Ted Gärdestad who competed in ESC 1979). Too bad the song feels a bit boring and not bring up to any heights. Even if I have heard that the backing singers will help out in the end, I don't think it will be enough in the stron semi.

5. "Yeba" Getty Domein 2p

I must say that I expected much worser than this! This has something that I like and a chorus that is quite easy to remember. Still no chance in this semi though! :p

6. "Kom" Timoteij 4p
A really cool etno-pop song! Something that could work in ESC actually! :D The lyrics is a bit childish, but extremly easy to remember! CAN BE A DARK-HORSE! :D

7. "You're Out Of My Life" Darin 4p

Another great song today! Feels that this song has a lot of emotions. This could work really well in ESC!!! The question is..does Sweden get this? Gives it 4, cause Darin...he can sometimes be too much. :p

8. "Heaven Or Hell" Crucified Barbara 4p

yeah, it's an another 4 for me! Great rock-song, very much like Vanilla Ninja, but feels even more rockish! Could also do well in ESC! :D How on earth should I vote tomorrow.

This is what I want (I think...)

F: Darin, Crucified Barbara
AC: Timoteij, Elin Lanto
5. Alcazar
6. Johannes Bah Kuhnke
7. Getty Domein
8. Erik Linder

Ask me in an hour and the top 5 may be changed

Will try to predict this by tomorrow! :p

To the final:
Alcazar
Darin (because they like him, I don't really like the song)

To AC
Timoteij
Crucified Barbara

I can't predict the places the rest will get. I think Lanto's song is quite bad. Or it's just because I think Elin Lanto is a silly Barbie-bitch    Sorry about that :p

Every single week I wonder why SVT has some kind of bet going on to use the worst possible photo of each participant for their clips :?

Alcazar and Darin sound the most promising to me I guess, but there doesn't seem to be anything particularly bad this time.

Alcazar are good, but worse than i expected really. They are my third faves now after Salem and Ola.

This semi looks better than the previous two, songwise though. Not any really bad song.

Re: SVERIGE - Sweden 2010

Darin has a amazing song. I think it will even better tomorrow at the live performance. Darin is a great performer. I also liked Alcazar's and Elin Lanto's songs. Overall this is a great semi again. Still Salem is my favorite until I see the live performances. :D

Re: SVERIGE - Sweden 2010

According to this (after the general rehearsal with the public) Alcazar is the first to go to the final and Darin is second. To AC goes Getty and Timoteij.
