I have mixed feelings about the artistic direction of Benidorm Fest.
Honestly the overall quality of the songs is low. All of them needed over structures to stand up. Seems more a staging competition and that's not a plus for me.
Everything was overloaded with dancers, wigs, staging elements, heavy outfits and maquillage. It's a sign of weakness of the artistic value, I think, if you try to fill every song with heavy staging.
I'm very curious to know the selling figures of Benidorm songs. They are out almost since 2 months and I have the feeling that most of these songs live only under the ESC bubble.

I have the impression that either rtve or the artists are trying to overproduce the songs visually due to Channel last year, her song was overlooked before and after Benidorm by the spanish public(let's not forget how much hate she got because Tanxugueiras and the boob lady lost), but it was thanks to how she sold it on stage with her charisma and her hard work that Spain got a top 3, so i don't blame the spanish delegation for trying to capture another lightning in a bottle.

Weirdness has taken over at Benidorm, and I don't like it. Some of the live performances were good, as such, but the show made me uncomfortable. In fact, it just confirmed the feeling I've had from the outset: that 'Nochentera' is the only Spanish entry worth listening to this year.

'Agoney' - well, his falsetto is almost flawless. That's the only positive thing I have to say about that song and stage show. For some reason, it's a clear favourite to win Benidorm.

And what people see in Alice Wonder - I simply don't get it.

Of all the cars Fusa Nocta could have featured she went with a 20 year old VW Passat xexcuseme

Even thouh I don't like his song much, I think he did a great job performing it. I can see him winning the whole thing.
I somehow was a bit disappointed by Megara. Her studio version really convinced me, but somehow the outfit at the live performance was disturbing. Less could have been more, I think. Vocally she was ood though!
The outfits just looked pretty cheap and tacky in my opinion. If you're going to go all out on that direction the outfits really need to shine and look good and professional, or else you end up looking like a discount bargain version of Lordi.

Quite surprised that Alice flopped in the end. Ok 2nd of the semi is still fine but 8th at the demoscopic juries, 5th at the televote and not wnning juries is very surprising. I was expecting from her a landslide victory "like Salvador Sobral and her being the worthy successor of both Barbara Pravi and Salvador. Anyone here to explain that ?

I don't see her winning in the final unless she manages to make the performance more intimate (difficult to achieve).
The biggest mistake was the unexpectedly shakey vocal performance really, the performance was totally fine otherwise. It completely kills the mood in a intimate song like "Yo Quisiera" that barely has any instrumentals.

I think the second semifinal will have a better level (personally, contrary to what most people think, there are better songs than in the first semifinal). But there are things that have to change. The delegation have good intentions. But don't you think that in the technical section the "Benidorm fest" has to improve?

It is actually the song I most listen to from this ESC season. But ... offtopic.
ok,more OT. 😇
my #1 from this season so far is bridges in the world class live version.
i know you will stick with ollie - no problem.
after this i have still krut (failed) and then the lords & veska together on third place - fifth the song "so low" from lithuania - away from the ESC i have this fresh discovered polish folk pop pearl momently as #1.

the lovely musicvideo is big OT of course.xqueenbitch

Not wanting to dance anymore, but I must dance
And what people see in Alice Wonder - I simply don't get it.

Like I said yesterday, I could still see it being a divisive entry because maybe people didn't connect with it or get pulled in by the emotion in her voice (her vocals were shaky at times, but I still enjoyed her overall presentation). Blanca Paloma had almost similar reactions from the demoscopic jury and televote last year in her first performance, though obviously her vocals were more steady. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the final and if her vocals improve.

The radio DJ said yesterday that the reason Fusa had the car onstage was because it belonged to her grandfather and she wanted him represented in the performance.

Agoney’s performance unfortunately does not bring anything fresh and exciting to the Eurovision stage. It’s very “Noche es para mi” meets “Wanna know my secret? Bam!”.

although the song is catchy and he sings the song well, the lyrics choke me to death. I really get ice cold shivers as if I am witnessing a demonic ritual. He literally sings about burning in Hell.

Alice Wonder washed away the sin from me with his celestial performance. Well, vocally there is room for improvement.

I loved Krut also ... and was mad that she didn't make it. Veska is definitely another favorite of mine as well. The song from Lor is quite nice, but I am still missing some kind of turning point within the song. But I am always open for folk pop. ❤️

There were only 10000 televotes last night, that is a ridiculously low amount for a country the size of Spain.
I guess I wouldn't vote too if I knew my vote would basically count for nothing.

That's literally just above what Moldova had in their NF in 2020. 💀 I don't blame not wanting to vote either when it only counts for 25%.
