I thought it was a nice bland pop song, and then the "perdonamÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉ" came out of nowhere. I'm still waiting for my eyebrows and eardrums to come back down

Yeah no sorry don't like this one at all and actually don't think it'll do particularly well for Spain either (fun combination). The chorus and pre-chorus sound carelessly written, he can't quite keep up with the song vocally as it develops, and all that's better than the verses, which are so unconscionably bland that "careless and poorly delivered" makes for an improvement all things considered. It's devoid of smarm, so it avoids the absolute bottom of my trash heap, but it's really not a fun listening experience.

Quite disappointed in Spain this year and I feel bad about Blás because he is a really good singer but the song wasn't made for his range and the high notes that he needs to reach sound weird...
Being that RTVE first chose the singer and later the song it's really strange that this has happened....
The song is very average at best, with a possibility of being elevated through a nice staging and the high notes thing could be solved with the backing vocals singing them instead of him(it would not be the first time that this has happened and would not be the last), but in any case I don’t expect a good result for Spain this year

Well, I just listened to the song and...
I have to echo most opinions shared here so far: this is super generic and flat, with - obviously - a lingering sense of déjà vu.
The only "good" thing about "Universo" is that it doesn't sound like what Spaniards have sent in recent years. So in this regard, they didn't try to repeat themselves. However, it's imitating any commercial pop song of the last five years, with an added Eurovisionised twist to it, which is probably one of the worst combos in my book.
I assume it's an attempt at getting Spain out of the bottom 5 because I sense it follows a so-called Eurovision recipe for success. But the final product is just kind of there, which imo will be an issue to go anywhere.
I'm honestly disappointed because, for whatever reason, I had a good feeling about Blás. I even liked the title of the song and expected him to take me to outer space or something. But clearly, I stayed on Earth while listening to that entry that I don't even feel like listening to again tbh.
I will not comment on that high note that comes out of nowhere and cheapens the whole thing. And the chorus is a no. Luca Hänni did all that better last year. This is not even good for Spanish standards imo, apart from Navarro, I'd take any Spanish entry this last decade over this.
Good luck to Spain, they might avoid the bottom 5 if televoters are nice to them and juries don't have a blander song to reward, but I doubt it will do very well, we will have better acts in this genre for sure.

I had my hopes ut for Blas. I really enjoy his voice! I am happy the song isn't his typical song though. But I am a bit disappointed here. Professionally done - but doesnt grab my attention. The chorus is not very strong. And that high note really seems out of place.
I am not as harsh in my critics as many of you guys though. Listening to it a couple of more times and I can sort of appreciate this. Or parts of it....

This song is just....
Ngl i was expecting more from Blas Canto, especially after delivering a certified bop such as "Él no soy yo". Somehow RTVE used their flop magic once again and transformed a promising artist into a beige performer. That high note is just no, honey no, what are you doing.

Pretty good Spanish entry! Definitely one of the better entries Spain has sent during the last two decades. 8 points!

Well, I can´t say I´m really disappointed because I wasn´t that enthusiastic when they announced Blas as contestant either, but for some reason I still hoped that his entry would be good. Well, all the hope was for nothing to be honest!!
The first verse is kinda ok, but then the chorus starts and afterwards it goes downhill very fast!! The line with "uni,universo" comes much to often, which makes the chorus highly wiry and repetitive. And even though it´s kinda harsh I have to say that I really HATE his voice, it´s very high without much power behind it. The rest of the song is musically and melody wise pretty uninteresting, but at 2:32 I was very terrified at the first listening to be honest. Even though the season is still young, this already gets the price for the most unnecessary long and high note of the year!!
All in all this is just a very flat and generic track which reminds me way too much of The Chainsmokers, and since I´m not a fan of them either this song doesn´t reach me at all. The song could resonate with the juries, but I strongly doubt that the audience will vote for this all that much. So I think the behaviour of ESC fans will be quite similar to the years before. Do you want an example??
Before the contest: "Our time has finally come!! The song is sooo good and we will win in a landslide and take the contest to again!!"
After the contest: " This ***** of a *****!! This is soo undeserved, we deserved at least top 10!! Europe hates us!!"

Spain is one of my least favorite Eurovision contries but I think "Universo" is not bad, I gave it 7 points. For me the best song since "Say Yay".
I fear we will get a lot more internally selected songs which will pretty much sound like this.

I really don't want to sound harsh, but, I really liked the first 13 seconds, after that it stopped doing it for me; at first I thought it was going to be a little more of a darker and moodier sounding track and what it ends up translating to is something that sounds almost like a Justin Timberlake with, and I'd hate to say it, a faint echo of 'Bigger than Us' from last year.
I don't think its a bad song but it leaves me wanting more, and not in a "I want to hear more of this" kind of way but in a "Is that it?" kind of way.

It's just okay. Could staging help it? Maybe, but I can see it struggling depending on where he ends up in the running order. Also, that high note may end up being his undoing if he can't reach it in the live performances.
