Let's troll Europe:

Ok, all joking aside. My only wish right now is that we don't send a ballad again.

The last time Spaia entered top 5 at ESC and got more than 10 points was in 1995 with Anabel Conde! :?

I simply can't see the end of Spanish ESC agony atm.. :( xcry

Antonio José would be awesome :)
Maybe Spain should go for an internal selection next year, I feel like the public is going to vote for ballads anyway.

Re: SPAIN 2019

Spain makes me so angry. In 2015 and 2016, the results made me angry, because I supported these songs so much. Although in retrospective, Amanecer was too dramatic and Say Yay was too invisible in the uptempo song contest of 2016 with its bland staging.

But 2017 and 2018, why Spain why?!?!

I will never forgive the robbing of Mirela, it hurts my heart and fills my eyes with fluids. And in 2018, the true love story only sold to the Spanish audience, but it was so irrelevant for success, when there was Lo Malo to pick...

Instead of possible Top 10's back to back, two big unforced flops.

I am scared of OT2018 already.

spain you´re simply don´t have the public by your side, your songs are very good but the other are also good so yours become forgotten.

Mirela was robbed, but my favorite song won so it's ok..still, i'd like to see some latino music from :es:

And latino music needs to be delivered by a gorgeous singer like Ana Guerra xlove

Let's bring Maluma and let the hormones do the rest of the work xcrazy
i honestly think tve would fuck it up enough for maluma to be bottom 5 even though he would normally have 200 automatic televote points just for being hot on the stage

mirela and ana/aitana would have flopped too, particularly mirela who i am sure would be last place too, tve is just unable to stage and promote an eurovision entry and they seriously need to change their entire delegation and stop fucking around

Wouldn't Maluma have a strong team behind him though to stop that happening? Use his own people and not TVEs. I don't imagine TVE dictating everything because he'd just walk, it's not like he needs ESC anyway. I think in the UK our 2009 success was less to do with the BBC and more to do ALW and the record labels.

As far as I know, any nationality can represent a country at Eurovision. The requirement of Spanish nationality is set by TVE, but if I was them I would change it. Ibero-American nationalities are the only ones the Constitution recognizes to have the dual citizenship in Spain, so why not letting Ibero-American artists represent Spain if our own laws make a distinction between these countries and the rest of the world because of historical and cultural bonds?

Well, of course he can, but tbh to me it would be quite hilarious. So the UK should just send LadyGaga then?

Apart from that, the part about the dual citizenship isn't correct, as I do have the Spanish and the German nationality and they are both recognized.

Why not? I think the most famous singers wouldn't participate in Eurovision anyway, but why closing the doors to artists from outside Europe that want to represent a country in Eurovision and this country agrees? We have many of these cases in the history of Eurovision, even some winners like Céline Dion for Switzerland. Why shouldn't Spain send some time a Latin American artist? Also it would increase the audience there.

Oh, about the dual citizenship, take a look at the webpage of the Ministry:

You have two citizenships, but not dual citizenship (it's not the same). Dual citizenship requires an agreement of both countries. Spain has them only with the countries listed there.

Re: SPAIN 2019

TVE: Please get your act together. There is such great music coming from your country. I guess the national selection this year was a step in the right direction, at least when it comes to raising awareness aroung the ESC. But the song chosen? Come on... the final result really couldnt come as any surprise....

Spain used to be one of my absoulte favourite countries in this contest, but the results since 2005 have all been quite well deserved (even though personally I though Barei deserved better). 10 out of these 14 years Spain has placed 20 or lower.... quite impressive! Twice in the same time have they reached a top 10. Both Pastora Soler and Ruth Lorenzo managed to place 10th. In both cases I would say that the top ten was because of these womens voices - and definitely NOT because of their songs.
And in 2018: A "sweet couple" with a true love story and a sugery sweet ballad. The problem was that Europe didnt know the two persons and their love-story, they only heard a quite dull ballad and a guy with a voice really not suitable for any ballad at all.

So please, please, please - TVE and Spain; Could you please try to take this seriously? Just for once?

Re: SPAIN 2019

I reckon this year the entry will be selected again through OT so we'll see but i don't foresee a good place for Spain anytime soon unless they really invest in finding a great song and they really commit with the staging.

Something like Rosalía would be a great choice
