TVE, the Spanish national broadcaster has informed esctoday.com that the 2012 Spanish Eurovision entry will be selected in February, in a special televised show which will be aired live on TVE. Earlier today TVE revealed that well known Andalucian artist Pastora Soler will have the honour of flying the Spanish flag in Baku next May. TVE will be holding a special press conference on Friday the 23rd of December at 11 at the TVE Torrespana headquarters, where the Spanish press will be able to meet Pastora Soler.
TVE will be revealing more details regarding its 2012 Eurovision preparations and song selection on Friday where the Spanish press has been invited to meet the 2012 Spanish Eurovision representative.
TVE has informed esctoday.com that it has studied and looked into submissions from many well known Spanish artists along with their respective companies. All this has been done confidentially. After evaluating all the received proposals the Spanish broadcaster opted to select Pastora Soler as their 2012 Eurovision representative.
Today Pastora Soler was invited to La Mañana de La 1 morning show aired on TVE 1, where she revealed that she is very happy and honoured to have been selected to represent Spain at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. She went on to say that she would sing a pop song and not a folkloric flamenco infuenced song, and that the Spanish public would have a say too. Pastora also mentioned that the decision was taken yesterday, when she received the news and confirmation from TVE. The Spanish artist also expressed her happiness at TVE's decision to opt for a well known and recongized artist for Eurovision.
Eurovision fans will be happy to know that Pastora is backed with a 17 year musical career behind her and has released a total of 11 albums. She enjoys fame, name, recognition and popularity both in Spain and overseas. She is currently working with Warner Music Spain, which has been her record company since 2005.
