Does anyone else think that while we are only inching there year by year, Eurovision is becoming a lot more popular, a fairer contest for all and that many broadcasters and countries are beginning to change their attitudes to the contest? Let's take yesterday as an example, Germany managed to win with a song not typical of the norm for ESC, added to the fact that a Big 4 country to the west of the continent won. Norway and Iceland's great results the previous year also add to this belief
It appears that many broadcasters are also looking for better quality songs, more interesting selection methods and publicising the contest more than it has before, and the media in Britain, for example, appear to have turned away from the usual diaspora argument and instead slated the song.
Sure there are still problems (Russian bloc voting for example, although the audience clearly showed a distaste to that) but maybe they will be ironed out in the coming years, and there can be a good mix of western and eastern countries competing in harmony and based on musical merit If this is what the new Eurovision will be like I can't wait
