Since Lina was mentioned, lemme share this summer hit of 2018 right now. The song was done as a commercial for the new season of got talent and it features some of the familiar faces like Bql, Nika Zorjan, Luka Sešek (singer of Proper), Klara Jazbec, and Lina Kuduzović
The song also has some spanish and croatian lyrics sang by Isaac Palma and Luka Basi respectively

in other news, Challe Salle has a new song called "Legenda".. It's 3 minutes long and released this month, so i have some hopes up, but we've never chosen a song using this method, so i know it's not realistic

In one of her recent Instagram posts, Raiven revealed she's been working with an electro-pop artist called July Jones and young producers in London for an upcoming EP.

She also said that her new music will be "even more personal" and that she has now complete control over what she wants to release.

Apparently, a new track will be out at the end of October.

Does that mean she could potentially come back in EMA? Wait and see...

Yes, she is serving LOOKS in this video!!! So stunning!

As for the song, it's not quite as "in your face" as I expected it to be, but it's definitely a grower. Anyway it sounds more sophisticated and layered than most songs in "Magenta", which is good since "Zažarim" was unfinished to me. The arrangements seem to suggest an evolution, she definitely wants to be part of today's current sound while incorporating hints of originality here and there.

AND of course, she still sings in freaking SLOVENIAN!

Her collab with July Jones is promising imo, I look forward to the other songs they've written together.

The system used for EMA will be the same as in 2011, 2015 & 2016

Oh I didn't expect them to get back to this system.
The "advantage" of it is that it gives RTVSLO more control over who they want to send, but they run the risk that people won't care much like in 2016. We'll see how it fares this time, let's pray for a good lineup.

I'm a bit disappointed because I liked the recent format, but I guess it'll be cheaper to organise that way.

RTVSLO always finds a way to have control.. The 2017/18 format was flawed in a way that jury results were proportional, while televoting results were not

I know they were snakes too the last couple of years but they couldn't influence the televoters, while this superfinal system forces people to choose between THIS and THAT. There's pretty much no choice, especially if one of the two acts is hopeless/considerably weaker.

But at the end of the day, I'm not complaining about this change. Personally, I think Slovenians need RTVSLO's guidance, I'm not judging their taste in music, but I think they tend to miss the mark when it comes to supporting songs that can really get them somewhere in the contest.

The jury will have to choose the favorite of RTVSLO against a weak one.
I hope the situation in 2016 is not repeated (Manuella VS Raiven).
I hope the public does not vote for THAT because THIS (Raiven for example) is unpleasant for their taste but not for all Europe!

At the end of the day, as long as there is a couple of strong songs, this system can work: 2014 and 2015 are the proof of that. I look forward to the lineup.

I'm low-key glad they ditched the international juries if I remember correctly, their votes were totally pointless.

I guess she's more likely to take part in it as a candidate this time.

You probably know more about what's going on than me: I've read somewhere her latest song "Nisem Kriva" was the first single from an EP she'd be expected to release next year (because she wrote several songs with July Jones). If that is true, then she certainly has a song for EMA.

I also heard that "Nisem Kriva" was the only "commercial pop" song of the EP meant to cater to the radios, while the rest would be harp-driven indie material. I don't know how accurate all this is though She might have stated such things in an interview but I'd be unable to find it. Take what I wrote with a pinch of salt for now, but the timing makes me believe she'll try her luck in EMA 2019.

That would be nice! Slovenia was my second favourite this year (when it comes to the final) and they sometimes submit amazing tracks, e.g. 2007, 2011, 2015, 2018. (apparently, it seems that it takes 3 to 4 years for me to be in love with a Slovenian enry... See you in 2021/22, Slovenia )
