Re: SLOVENIA 2019
Ok, so tomorrow night will be THE night. It's time to refresh everyone's memory.
Ten acts will be competing this year, two of them will go to the superfinal thanks to a 3-people jury, then Slovenian televoters alone will decide who should represent them in Tel Aviv. The show will be presented by Slovenian actress Ajda Smrekar.
Here are the snippets of the entries:
Out of these ten participants, six of them are newcomers to the "ESC bubble":
-Kim with "Rhythm Back to You"
-René with "Ne poveš"
-Fed Horses with "Ti ne poznaš konjev"
-LUMBERJACK with "Lepote dna"
-INMATE with "Atma"
-Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl with "Sebi"
The four remaining acts already had to do with Eurovision or EMA one way or another:
-Okustični technically are newcomers since the band never tried to represent Slovenia before, however both members have already been to Eurovision as backing vocalists (Karin was a backing singer for Maraaya, ManuElla and Lea Sirk, while Mate sang for Sestre). Tomorrow, they will perform "Metulji plešejo".
-Renata Mohorič participated in EMA in 2015 as the vocalist of I.C.E. with the song "Vse mogoče" (see spoiler), but didn't make it to the superfinal back then. This time, she will compete alone with the song "Three Bridges".
-Ula Ložar represented Slovenia in JESC in 2014 with the song "Nisi sam / Your Light" (see spoiler). She eventually ranked 12th out of 16. Tomorrow, she will try to enter Eurovision with the song "Fridays".
-Raiven took part in EMA twice: in 2016, she qualified for the superfinal with her song "Črno bel" (see spoiler), yet ended up losing to ManuElla's "Blue And Red". In 2017, she came back with "Zažarim" (see spoiler) and ranked 3rd out of eight in the final. This year, she will try her luck again with her brand new effort "KAOS".
As far as guests are concerned, I don't have much information. However, last year's Slovenian representative Lea Sirk (see spoiler) will definitely be there and hopefully bless us with a 25-minute medley of songs from her album "2018".
Let's not forget she slayed in Lisbon and qualified despite bleak odds. She ranked 22nd out of 26 in the grand final.
There you go
I'm so excited for tomorrow. I've been following EMA since 2016 and always enjoyed the NF of my favourite Eurovision country ever. The lineup is very good to me, several songs would be worth being heard in the contest, and one in particular whose potential shouldn't be taken lightly imho (follow my gaze). From the pictures RTVSLO posted, the staging looks nice and the visuals will be on point. It's going to be an entertaining night.
FORZA SLOVENIJA!
