Ironically this americanized thing will get jury help, while past genuine entries didn't get any.

I rest my case. Say all about what the juries wants from Eurovision :(

Is it bad? Nope, but it's not as good as previous Slovak entries.

I hope we will get juries this year that will appreciate entries in native language and more local sounding, but I doubt it.

Of all the songs I've heard so far this is the one that sounds the most commercial. I could imagine hearing it on the radio in the UK - it would wash right over me but that would be because I don't like the style of music. I understand that the girls' live vocals are a bit dodgy so that could let them down on the night.

The song is average. It´s nothing real special, it would be difficult to pass the semis.

I think Horehronie was better than this, but that also didn't qualify...

I think Horehronie was one of the best entries of the past decade period!

1996: Very good imo song with kind of poppy gospel feel - Ends up in the bottom.

1998: Local sounding big ballad with some touch of ethnic - Ends up in the bottom.

2009: Slovakia comes back after 11 years and sends a kind of local sounding, big melancholic dramatic ballad in native language with probably the best live vocals of whole ESC 2009 and for a ballad a pretty effective stage show - juries did not bother, ends up in the bottom.

2010: Slovakia sends a haunting brilliant ethnic song in native language, while the performance wasn't the best, it wasn't the worst and it wasn't worse than some stuff juries put through both as wildcards in 2008-2009 and generally in 2010 - juried did not bother once again, ends up in the bottom.

Ironically
2011: Slovakia sends a very mainstream, kind of plastic, Americanized non-Slovak sounding song in English - juries will probably help it, ends up?

See where Eurovision is heading...

Now imagine the same entries but change "Slovakia" to UK/Ireland/France or Sweden in the 90's and change the language and in 00's change "Slovakia" to Turkey/Greece/Russia and change the language to English and try guess where those entries would end up - I bet alot better and also with some jury help.

I agree, this song is sort of "average", but in comparison to what i've heard from the contributions so far, it isn't all that shabby to be honest.

speaking of which, what's up with 2011? I think we've been spoiled the last 3 years or something with really good songs and hard competitions, and last year was in my opinion amazing, one of the best eurovision years i've seen during my 40years, Most songs were way above "average" then 2010, but now? I'm just wondering what's happening, and why? :/ but heck, it might be my taste in songs that's off? :)

My theory is: the return of juries!

They have 50% power and their voting patterns shows that they prefer safe entries in English, and quite often not very up to date either. Which means that stuff like that gets better results. Countries wants good positions, so they look at what "worked" on past Eurovision, so they start to unintentionally catering to the taste of juries.

As long as juries prefer safe entries in English, which aren't even slightly out of the box, we'll see a decline in Eurovision quality even more.

Eurovision juries have been caught up in a mindset that this is somehow a singing contest like Idol, which means that they are busy voting for big ballads (often dated ones) with what they consider "good voices", totally ignoring the rest.

Please stop spamming the forum with your opposition to the juries. We get it but we have a thread for that so that's where it should go.

In addition, Both the juries & the televoters put the 2010 song in the bottom 5 so that comments makes your so called theory lose a lot of credibility.

Oh c'mon, I'm not spamming, I'm just making my point (offcourse people don't have to agree though, but that's another thing).

Oh, I actually forgot about the topic I started about this in the other section

I guess I'll develop my theory more in that one when it comes to this year's entries.
