The Royal Family of Serenes
Life Returns

The final Serene entry in WLSC is "Life Returns" composed by Queen Lillia of the Kingdom of Serenes and performed by her daughter, Leanne. The song is written in the Galdr language, the native tongue of the people of Serenes.

Fifty years ago, Serenes was struck by the worst natural disaster in its history, now known as "the Devouring." A massive wildfire raged across the forest nation, leaving a trail of destruction its path and eliminating half of the population. The tragedy was overwhelming for the people of Serenes, having lost not only their friends and loved ones but the beauty and fertility of their land.

Today, the forests have been largely replenished, Serenes has recovered much of its natural beauty, and the people have come to terms with the Devouring.

However, the scars of the past remain and they are commemorated in "Life Returns."

Below you may find the English translation.

Endless grief and sorrow
Hearts slumbering again
Stars frozen in their place
Darkness envelops the land

But in the spilling of blood
a hope still glimmers dim
in a reflection in the water

I've considered a number of his songs for NSC/WLSC, but I decided to go with "Borrowing" since I think it really suits Serenes ^^
