I agree, he even said afterwards that he was a whole lot more nervous in 2004 and now that he's a little older, things like that don't affect him as much as they used to.

i saw him nervous for the first two lines or so... then it seems he was able to "take a deep breath and let go"
i can't blame him for that little "hickup" in the beginning. first out... but he was perfect from there on.
age, experience, confidence. i guess it all worked for him
I'm sure that finale will be even better: pitch perfect, relaxed and emotional. he's a pro, for sure
