I know San Marino desperately needs financing for their ESC candidature but their selection makes no sense. More than 200 semifinalists is just a nonsense.

Apparently a couple of Czech artists are in the running (Valis & Polczi as per EuroContestcz) so if it works out for them, Czechia will be represented by a Slovak and San Marino by a Czech

Anyway I agree with @MAD20 that this format is ridiculous, nobody even watches this and it's just a financial scheme of a micro-country. Can't they team up with other smaller states or something, because this is just bizarre. If an artist representing San Marino but of a completely different origin and with no actual link to San Marino wins Eurovision, it will be a complete farce.

This is effing ridiculous.

How on Earth can jurors rank so many people and let only 2 of them qualify?

It's crazy that they didn't reduce the contestants to 10-15 per semi.. but I guess they are all paying well.

Everyone that advance to the semi-finals have to pay an extra 150 euro so i guess that's why there is 200 of them

You have two sets of ears. If you listen to them in mono, that's just 110,5 songs in three days which is absolutely doable

There were 1200 submission of which around 400 auditioned. Loco boomboxx with "1984 WTJ: The Jumping Jack Song!" for example did not make it

Wake me up please when San Marino ditches their national final that always results in some middling rock destined for 5 points winning, instead returning to iconic internal selections of rich sugar daddies and mommies that know how to get my juices a juicing.
