It's Omisoka (New Year's Eve), one of the most important dates in the Sakuralian calendar! Time to party, watch special programs with friends and family, and usher in a brand-new year!
I know my Japanese entries have all flopped in the past, but I adored this song by Perfume when I heard it during the 62nd Kohaku Uta Gassen in 2011. I hope you guys like it too
So close in the last edition, the Sakuralian fires of determination are lit! Which is why we've turned to the Land of Fire for our next entry, a dramatic piece of symphonic rock that will surely impress in Begonia!
I've gone through a lot in the almost 2 years that I've been a part of the main roster, and the 3 since I've joined the NSC community as a whole. I am proud and honored to welcome everyone to Sakuralia for NSC 145!
As a way to look back on everything I've done and everything still left to achieve in the future, I've chosen my debut WLSC entry as the host country song for this edition
Re: Sakuralia ❀ NSC 146: Meghan Trainor - Good To Be Alive
NSC 146
After a successful hosting of NSC, Sakuralia now celebrates its 25th edition as a member of the main roster! And no better way for me than to share a happy, upbeat song from The Peanuts Movie (I'm not necessarily a fan of the artist, but the song makes me smile and I hope it does the same for you)
Re: Sakuralia ❀ NSC 147: Matt Mays - Take It On Faith
NSC 147
For sure I can do indie-rock! I found this song through a montage on CBC during the 2014 Winter Olympics. Perhaps this will be worthy of your vote as we head to Lacrea!
So what happens when you combine one of the United States' most popular groups with one of France's most recent rising stars? You get a fresh bilingual blend of a song that's sure to get you going as we head into summer!
RELEASE FROM SHK (RE: ALTERNATIA NEGOTIATIONS)
Representatives of the broadcaster of a nation in Alternatia met with counterparts at SHK recently to discuss the possibility of having OneRepublic and Amir's song represent them at the first Alternatia Song Contest. After much negotiating, SHK gave the green light to the Alternatian nation and will send a delegation to assist with preparing their performance.
Re: Sakuralia ❀ NSC 149: Koop - Koop Island Blues (ft. Ane Brun)
NSC 149
This was one of my favorite entries I sent in WLSC. As a fan of So You Think You Can Dance in the past, this was the music used for the famous "butt dance" by Evan and Randi in season 5 of the US version
Re: Sakuralia ❀ NSC 150: John Williams - Becoming a Geisha
NSC 150
In the western part of the country is the city of Kinmoku, where there is said to be a secret and mysterious world all its own. To celebrate the 150th edition of NSC, we are giving back to Natia in our own special way - through the magic and mystery of the geisha world
Re: Sakuralia ❀ NSC 151 - Celebrating our Third Decade ❀ Dami Im - Fighting For Love
NSC 151
We celebrate our third decade of existence in Luzinia this edition! And we're celebrating with the incredible Dami, who was our second-ever representative in WLSC. Enjoy!
My love of cycling comes up once again in this edition's Sakuralian entry - it was the official song of this year's Vuelta a España race which was won by Chris Froome of Team Sky, completing the first Tour-Vuelta double in nearly 40 years. Hope you enjoy it!
(Fun fact: The video for the song was shot in Nîmes, France, where the 2017 Vuelta started back on August 19)
Re: Sakuralia ❀ NSC 153 - George Michael: Freedom '90
NSC 153
I know what you're thinking: "this is a huge gamble". With the anniversary of George's death coming up, I thought it would be only right to celebrate his legacy with one of his most iconic songs
Re: Sakuralia ❀ NSC 155: Hans Zimmer - Show Me Your Firetruck
NSC 155
Allez cuisine!
In Japan (and in Sakuralia), we call it Ryori no Tetsujin. But nearly 20 years ago, it became a cult smash in the Western world known as Iron Chef. The theme music to this hit TV series comes from the 1991 movie Backdraft
