From what I've read, the official Eurovision youtube account posted a video for the 10 most viewed Eurovision-related videos in January.

"You Are The Only One" by Sergey was in it with the mention "Russia 2019" instead of "2016".



Unless people refer to something else, I don't see how that means Lazarev is confirmed.

That's a very risky, unusual and provocative choice somehow since the singer is from Ukraine.
Maybe that's why Kirkorov just made that comment that he "has a singer in mind but if the Russian channel doesn't approve it, he will be trying to be involved in a project of a friendly country or just attend Eurovision as an ordinary fan".

It really seems that he has an artist ready but isn't sure if the Russian channel would back it up.

Why wouldn't the Russian channel back Alyosha Panayotov? After all, Panayotov has won the Russian Voice the other year. Kirkorov obviously is pushing Panayotov for his own interest, and now he is trying to pressure the Russian chanell by making up these stories about Panayotov being an Ukrainian. Bla bla bla. I am not buying it. Panayotov is actually an ethnic Greek if I am not mistaken, so....

I don't think Lazarev wants to come back - it is too soon. He will risk his public image of a "victim" in Russia, if he comes back and flops this time around. So, if he is smart he will stay out this time.

He was my number-one back in 2016 but honestly, the juries did support him. They ranked him #5 despite cheesy lyrics, a Eurovision-esque melody and not so perfect vocals. Fair enough xD
