^ I think that whatever rules is, the winner would still be the same, so that is not true at all. Why would people think that the winner isn't worthy just because the winner was in the "try-out" period? We have still voted for it, it is the song that most people liked and got the most votes, that is why it can't be called an "un-worthy winner" by any means. The ones that would think that, should leave the contest immedietly IMO, cause it is just silly to think.

The only thing that came to thought when thinking about this try-out thing is that when someone gets top 6 and if one of these rule-changes is a PQ-reducements, which of course is sad, but in the same time, then everyone is on the same turns. If I would be 5th in NSC 74 and in 75 we only have 4 PQs for example, then I would be sad, but still accept the fact that we have this for that edition, cause it is something that the majority of the people has decided (If we go for the "try-out"). If people think 5 editions is too many, we could have 2, 3 or 4, even 1, I don't care, I just want to try out a new idea, just to see if what we have is better or if we happen to make this contest better more fair and more fun! :)

I know it seems kinda scary but maybe it'd be fun to try out all these different systems. ;)

I like the idea of 'try-out period' :D

I don't think five editions is too much.

I don't really have a problem with 30 finalists. Sure, it's already hard enough to narrow many finals down to a top 10, and good songs will miss out on points, but that's life. You could change the voting system tho, make it a top 15 instead of top 10, but that would make the distance to ESC even further, so I doubt that will be a popular idea. Then again, we're bigger than ESC (in number of nations at least), so we can't really do this the same way as them, so it's an idea (I'd say 20-18-16-14-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1).

Personally (and an addition to the top 15), I'd like to change the roster, since the waiting list is so big now, and it's gonna take forever for people to join in, and many might leave long before they even get to enter. That means 3 semi finals tho, and I made a few different variations on how to do this, but I think the best solution is this:

Roster of 70, 7 PQs, 21 nations in each semi (63 in total).
7 regular qualifiers from each semi, 1 combined qualifier from the rest juries from the 2 other semis (making it 8 from each semi), which should give a final of 31.
2 of the PQs vote in each final, while the 7th (I'm thinking the winner of the previous edition here) can choose where he/she wants to vote (giving one semi 3 PQ voters).

Might still be some flaws here, but maybe it's something that can be considered for the future?

I've had a think and why use a jury with combined qualifier when we could just have all voters voting in the exact same way, eliminating reju. Giving full voting rights in both semi's to all countries (WL included) although it's only mandatory to vote in the semi you are allocated for.

This suggestion is the only one that I see as being any use, the others seem a bit needlessly complicated. It would make the qualifiers as representative of everyone's taste as possible.

I think we should have a private jury that comes out with one winning song à la ESC 1956. No scoreboards, no qualifiers, no points, no whining. Problem solved. xcheers

Those rest-jury rules are beginning to give me a light headache. I don't understand half of what Nati explained on his first post. :lol: Why, if we want to be a ESC simulation as close as possible to the real thing, don't we play by the same rules?

2 semis, 10 qualifiers, and a top 5 from the previous edition. 25 songs in final, yay! And if you really want a rest-jury thing, well... keep it as it was when it was first installed. No +6 points scheisse and stuff, just plain simple. It was working perfectly! Simplicity is the key, otherwise people get scared off and leave the game. ;)

I agree with this as long as we have a maximum of 20 countries per semi!!

Winner (and host) prequalifies, all other nations in the semis, 14 qualifiers from each semi. (Top 13 + 1 REJU or have everyone to have full voting rights in the other semi.)

And please don't drop the amount of finalists below 28.

And I know that no one is going to like this idea but drop the roster amount to 50.

I'm afraid expanding the roster is only a temporary solution. We're situated on a forum that has 3,274 members and each year new ones are coming. There are much more potential newcomers than those 20 you see, who would join if only they didn't have to wait. But since many aren't determined enough, the WL reduces itself on its own, stretching to no more than 20 countries. Even if NSC had 100 countries, the WL would still look similar.
