Who says that? This is not really the kind of song that staging can do much for.
It is a matter of evocate their message with the staging. Nothing more. And close ups to the boys. All of them are cute. From twinks to bears. We need votes.

People keep saying that Napa with a great staging will qualify with ease, but what would that staging look like?
Let's say, you, the person reading this, where hired to conceptualize and plan the staging of "Deslocado".
The budged is small, so you can't have more people nor props on stage. Fireworks are also out of the question, but you can do whatever you want with the led walls, lights and on-screen effects. Also keep in mind the unusual shape of the stage.
What would you do?
The beginning should look like this (looking like flames on the face very intimate)

Actually something like this would be great for the song

"Deslocado" isn't an intimate song, but I like your concept. Change the type of lighting to emulate traffic passing by or the blinds of a corporate office instead of a camp fire and that could be a good start.

Sidenotte, this kind of staging could have been great for "Tristeza". Part of the lyrics said "Bato the frente com a dor do normal"/"I crash head on into the pain of normalcy". A very poetic way to describe when you sudently you get hit by a wave of sorrow and sadness for no apparent reason. I always imagined it as a wave of light blinding him and disappearing into the back, basically the reverse of what happens in "Grito", where a wave of light comes from the back and fills the screen with white.

Yeah exactly. Just tweak a little bit. And honestly even if the song isn't intimate, the only thing that matters it's to do something that catches peoples votes.

Was RTP able to do that? Let's wait for the rehearsals...

RTP knows about our high chances of NQ, so they should move their asses in the end.
That guitar solo in the end should be used with the cameras like Netherlands 2014. Maybe a bit more subtile.

I would depic a representation of the lyrics in a cinematigrafic way and using the LEDs.
The stage mountain could show Madeira and the LEDs in the center stage the city.
We could have a plane moving from one part of the stage to the other in the LEDs.
When the performance ends the big LEDs wall could depic a plane and the stairs to enter in the plane. This could be done in a way that it looks like they are entering the plane...
It's the only thing that comes to my mind.

I hope they will do something like that... From the interviews Napa did after winning FDC, the only thing they said was about telling the song message on stage.

This needs to and WILL qualify.

Sorry, but again, there's no way that 0 slow songs advance in this heavily upbeat semi.

Theres just no way this is qualifying. Im pretty sure its going to be the semi last placer.
And yes, there are people that love slow songs ( I am one of them ) but theyve got to have a distinctive melody ( like Saudade Saudade ) or something, this is just flat and torturously boring. No local will vote for a song just coz " its slow ", that doesn't make any sense, it needs to tick more boxes, and this one doesnt.

And people will vote for other songs just because they're loud?

'Cause 50 % of the songs in this semi are doing just that - being loud with no substance.

No they will vote for those coz theyve got distinctive melodies and memorable packages. I know this is a harsh comment but locals will use this as a toilet break, especially after Sweden 😭 or they will just be chatting over it after the Sweden excitement

It is impossible. Diaspora will be activated to give some points all over Europe.
And I do not agree about being flat. No offense and it's nothing about you being Greek, but Asteromata is an example of a flat song. It does not go anywhere. But well, it is nice to disagree sometimes.
Of course, I do not put this song in the same league "Saudade, Saudade", but it is by miles the most successful Portuguese entry in the charts on the pre-season. It means something and we all know how Eurovision fans are biased and blind until the impact.

Not 50%... 90%... Eurofans sometimes forget about the demographics of Eurovision. There are a lot of youngsters watching it, but mummies in their 40s to 60s too... How do you think Dons went through the final last year? At this point, I would not be surprised if we get Slovenia and Portugal in the final with Norway and Belgium failing the spots.
My mother still talks about Malta's entry from 2009. So, you can see how it is. :ROFLMAO:

As a Portuguese and after the FdC meltdown, I actually now find the song rather cute and warming.

But my question remains the same: which aspect of the song will make someone (other than diaspora) pick up the phone and vote for it? I still fail to see it happen.

Also, please for the love of the Madeira gods, pick something else for the recaps. Anything else really.

Asteromata is zero flat. It actually has modern sounds, mixing ballad with some ethnic touches. The song has a melody and her voice makes the song zero flat. It might not be your taste but you can't say its flat because it isn't.

"Deslocado" yes it's a flat song, because besides the pleasant intro it goes no where. In the middle there's some guitar break and a leg in the air mixing with a arm in the air, but besides that? It does nothing. Great for portuguese radio stations, but it´s not catchy enough. I honestly fail to understand the appeal the song has for eurovision. And the recap that is going on the official video? Who on earth would vote for that? I lived abroad and honestly never voted for Portugal in eurovision. Not because I disliked the songs, simply because I didn't wanted to spend money. And although the song is talking about being abroad and the sense of not belonging... If I was still abroad I wouldn't vote for the song either. Yes diaspora will vote for us but it will not be enough. We just have to admit that RTP screwed with the jury and that they need to update the vision that they have for FdC. I'm just so tired of all this "Oh I don't care about what others think, the most important thing is that we like the song and is true to Portugal and bla bla". This is a competition! And honestly there are tones of ways you can send something that it's true to portuguese identity and still be competitive enough. Just look at Italy!

As always, I would love to see my country qualifying for the 5th year in a row, but we have to be realistic. And honestly comparing this to Black Mamba (like many people do) it's just crazy to me. "Love is on my side" is a slow song, but it's very distinct to "Deslocado" because Tatanka sings really well. "Deslocado" has almost nothing and altough he has a sweet voice, it's just that. Sweet and always in the same pace. If we end up qualifying I'll be very happy obviously, but we have to be realistic because it's chances are close to none. And if I'm wrong... great!

Just hope next year RTP tweaks the voting system because I'm just tired of this. It's borderline snob. Both RTP and the jury.

They should go for the beginning it's the only thing that saves this.
