Just listened to yesterday's songs. They were all decent, but sadly that's it.
I'm supporting Yola for the win, I think the instrumental is more beautiful in the video than in RTP's live version, so if she is chosen it has a lot more potential in the Eurovision stage than on FdC's. I think she might very well be Portugal's only shot at qualifying. Failing that, I wouldn't be upset with Leonor and Teresa. Simone's song is nice, but her voice has really degraded and it just doesn't suit it.

Terrible selection, as always. i feel ashamed for my country... as always :geek:

Há um mar que nos separa is probably the best song, though i don't like it very much... it's the common type of soap opera song.

I'm starting to think the same way.

She has the right charisma and maybe with a little revamp the song can improve a lot.

The song could work much better with a revamp. They would need to correct the chorus and make it more appropriate to the verses. I doubt RTP would care enough to make a revamp though

My favourite is Simone de Oliveira. But I am afraid that no matter what Portugal sends to Vienna they will be left in the semi once again.

I would agree with you, if we weren't all here long enough to know how futile it is to make such predictions at this early stage xshrug

There are right now three possible contenders, Yola, Leonor and Simone.
We've had the likes of Yola before and recently, at that. This one is particularly old fashioned and soppy to please me. It's not interesting enough, it's not even strong enough. Everybody will say, "oh portugal, there you go again (with your favourite song nobody else in europe enjoys)!"

Simone... it is what it is. She´s a handsome old lady, she's got a huge presence on stage, loads of charisma. She hasn't really got a song, but she's got a bogeyman's voice and she would quickly become the second "joke" entry of the year by the majority of viewers.

I have recently warmed to Leonor. Her song's really nice and feels modern, with a litle touch of rough, something we never sent before. No bullshite about "our identity" or "our culture" or any such things". It would be wonderful to give ourselves a break as we can always come back with our culture next year and make it with something worthwhile.

Há um mar que nos separa will definitely not win anything and might even not get out of the semi, but we don't know that for sure. We are bad at making songs, but we are comparatively good at presenting them at eurovision. I'm sure many details can be bettered until then. And in a ballad year, this will not be another one!

Didn't vote in either semi, didn't even watch the second one, but I decided to vote for leonor tomorrow and I'll be truly rooting for her.

xcheer

I agree that Leonor's song is the best if they improve the chorus. The song is well built and it grows stronger until the chorus, but then it dies. That chorus is very disappointing. I also like Teresa's song, but Leonor's song is more modern.

My favourite is "Há um mar que nos separa". The song itself is quite strong, but the chorus is extremely meh. This would need a major revamp and improve the vocals.

My second choice would be "Um fado en Viena". Out of the typical Portuguese songs this is way better than Yola's song IMO and I like Teresa more too. A bit bland maybe, but it's a quite decent entry.

Then Simone de Oliveira. A decent song and an epic singer. But I'm afraid 2015 is no time for any of both.

Anything else would be terrible for me.

Running order for tonight's show:

1. José Freitas - Mal Menor (Ninguém me guia à razão)
2. Yola Dinis - Outra Vez Primavera
3. Leonor Andrade - Há um mar que nos separa
4. Simone de Oliveira - À espera das canções
5. Teresa Radamanto - Um Fado em Viena
6. Gonçalo Tavares - Tu tens uma mágica

The final will have two rounds. On the first one, with 100% televoting, the top 2 or 3 (not sure which but I think it's 3) will qualify to the superfinal, where once again 100% televote will be used.

I think the first round is decided by televote+juri vote combined. The winner is then decided by televote alone. At least that's what i read somewhere.

If the juries aren't the composers who chose a wildcard song per semi final, I think there won't be any tragic outcome for the superfinal :D So far, the viewers seemed to have good taste, let's hope they won't change their minds. I'm curious to know who'll be the most loved act of the night though.

I think Yola is the big fan favourite so far. I don't like it at all (mainly cause of the tone to her voice), but if things go as expected, the victory will be hers.
