This entry (whatever song it will be) could be another highlight for me. :D Waiting for the song to be confirmed!

Re: POLAND 2019 - Tulia

Maybe it's this one?

Like I wrote earlier, I'm afraid this song is a bit too flat and could bomb in Eurovision. As much as I appreciate Poland taking a chance with this and they're going ethno and local, they need to have a song that could sell that idea to Europe. They will struggle with the anti-Europeans in the juries, so they need the public onboard. Now, I wish the entry will stay folky and in Polish (Slavic ethno in English is just a pathetic idea), but it needs to be less flat if that makes sense? Also as much as this slavic type of "choir" singing is intriguing, like was pointed out by someone earlier in this thread, it can get a bit monotone if there are no solo vocals thrown into the mix, but yeah it all depends on the entry. I have actually high hopes for Poland since they will stand out, but the entry needs to be less flat though.

I really hope the song will be in Polish

European folk (except few exceptions) in English is just ridiculous tbh... I can't even at the thought of hearing this Slavic singing style in English, it will come across as more like a novelty act than something serious... leave English for standard Pop entries where it fits... in fact even there I'd like to see less English but at least in those cases it works.

Yeah, I think Salvador's win with a song in Portuguese helped some countries realize that you don't have to sing in English to win, as there has been a slight increase in non-English songs since then. I hope this trend will continue. So far this year (with only 18 song selected) Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Hungary, Albania and Slovenia will sing at least partially in a language other than English and I'm hoping for more.

I can only agree, hope those you mentioned won't change to English though... it's still too much English though but hey... I guess we should be happy with the few exceptions we get? xshrug

English is one thing though, but often English translations for ESC are bad, and in ethno/folky/local-inspired entries it just sounds out of place...

Re: POLAND 2019 - Tulia

Since this thread pretty much died...

I don't know if it's a common knowledge, but today Polskatimes published an article, where it is confirmed that Tulia's song will be the one of five non-covers from their album. Since two feature other artists (Kasia Kowalska and Marcin Wyrostek) I'd not consider any of them. That leaves us with "Dreszcze", "Pali się" and "Nie zabieraj" - yet it seems like "Dreszcze" is out, because they kind-of dismissed the rumors of it being the chosen song. They quoted girls as saying "there are rumors that we chose "Dreszcze", but we just uploaded the video a day before [they were chosen as representatives of Poland] and it's not any kind of a hint. It happens often that when we say something, others will add to it" someone correct my translation if it's wrong :D - https://polskatimes.pl/tulia-chce-z...czas-finalu-tegorocznej-eurowizji/ar/13938867

Aaaand since the song's title will finally be revealed on Friday, and "Pali się" is much more known and hyped (?) than "Nie zabieraj" (which isn't even really uploaded on YouTube, there is only one video including the song and it's just bland, to be honest), I think that we already know what we're getting from Tulia. Either way, we're doomed

I listened to Pali Sie and I really like the song. It is a bit like Avril Lavinge, but with a strong polish identity. But I do see as many write, if it becomes the entry that it might struggle quite a lot in Eurovision. They really need to either make it more rock or more ethnic to make it have a chance to qualify. Also I don't understand the meaning of the song, even if I read the translation. I feel it has some kind of meaning here, so could someone who knows polish maybe outline what the song is about? :)

Pali Sie reminds me a *little* bit of Tii by Neiokoso (Estonia 2004) which I of course adore so I hope it is indeed that (but Poland get the biggest ever FUCK YOU because like.. the song is out and we just need them to confirm it but they won't? Insanity)

Re: POLAND 2019 - Tulia

Well, this choice is in my taste, thank you very much. I did know this band before, I was not a fan, but I think Tulia has many opportunities to give a very memoriable and well-received performance. I started to listening their cover for "Nothing Else Matters" and I enjoy it and I like performance of "Pali się" from "The Voice".

Maybe they want to send a little bit different version of "Pali się" with a new video which will be uploaded on official Eurovision channel on the very last day. I think it's a good idea. A guy from TVP who was a director (?) of Roksana Węgiel's winner performance on JESC will be in the team, so... I have a good feelings - even if everything from TVP looks a little bit :D unproffesional. I kinda like all our choices from 2014, even last years flop, I will keep my fingers crossed for Tulia for sure.

Yes please. If it stays the way it is, then we are bound to be forgotten. The song itself has a repetitive structure and them staying upright not moving anything but their lips ain't helping. I really hope that the team will think about it and they'll add some action to the performance :D

It's pretty much about being depraved of love for such a long time, that even the smallest spark is extremely powerful. As the lyrics say, a lonely heart doesn't need much, so it only need a small sign of love for it to go wild :D Hope I helped!

Re: POLAND 2019 - Tulia

In case it should be "Pali się", I will love it and it gets a spot in my top 10, I think. It's an unique entry, but Schlagermann said it Right, that they should turn it either more to a rock version or get more ethnic vibes. But I am not so sure though how it will do in May. But Tulia will have my support! :D
