Voted in my groups. I hope my votes for the other one will be accepted, too, as they will be late.

Results will probably be in the afternoon, with the next round beginning in the evening :D Since it's a double hosting, i can't guarantee any particular times though :p

Group Stage Prediction time!

GROUP A:
-se 10 REGIONS OF MOBIUS
ci.png
HALITO
ve.png
KUKI-Q
mg.png
YAPONESIA

My pre-song prediction was that 10 Regions and Sweden would destroy this group, and that it also had potential to be the "group of life" :p Even though Lykke Li wasn't necessarily the most popular kind of Swedish music in NSC, I still think this sort of electroish will strike a chord with many NSCers. Runnerup could see our NSC 35 Doklean entry, here representing Kuki-Q for Venezuela, while the two Africans are left behind, with odds against them (We even get to be the rank outsiders according to the odds; woohooo! xD)

[center:3s00pa0t]Post-song Prediction:
10 REGIONS OF MOBIUS
KUKI-Q

------------------------
HALITO
YAPONESIA
[/center:3s00pa0t]

GROUP B:
za.png
COMINO
-ee QUIÉNDQ
cl.png
NUKULAND
cv.png
KINGDOM OF ERÅS

Former NSC winners Vanilla Ninja represent QuienDQ and Estonia, with a poprock likely to please many. Both Comino and Nukuland have rather strong rock songs, with a close fight likely, while Kingdom of Eras' Cape Verde turned out to be rather interesting. I believe this song still has chances; it's not necessarily the chanceless-unknown-country-song we might've expected :D Close fight for the runnerup spot between all three I reckon.

[center:3s00pa0t]Post-song Prediction:
QUIÉNDQ
NUKULAND

------------------------
COMINO
KINGDOM OF ERÅS
[/center:3s00pa0t]

GROUP C:
tt.png
CANEDONIA
-at VIOLA PER SEMPRE
-kz ZOMBIRA
ao.png
XORIENTIA

Before seeing the songs, I named this the most wide open group, with any possible qualifiers. Having heard the songs, I would lean towards a VpS Austrian group-win, with their safe, NSC-friendly song, while Zombira could steal 2nd with their edgy, epic Kazakh entry. People could also take to the celebratory Worldcup nature of Canedonia, so kudos for that too. Xorientia's uniquely intriguing entry is still my prediction for bottom, but who knows what a song like this could do!

[center:3s00pa0t]Pre-song Prediction:
VIOLA PER SEMPRE
ZOMBIRA

------------------------
CANEDONIA
XORIENTIA
[/center:3s00pa0t]

GROUP D:
-nl GENEXT
bb.png
RASMUS ISLANDS
fo.png
ZOIDIAC
my.png
TÍR AN ABHAINN

I took a stupid risk with my pre-song predictions here, when I placed Zoidiac 3rd :p Even if it somewhere as obscure as the Faroe Islands, Zoidiac still provides a lively, catchy rock song likely to appeal to many NSCers and win the group. Rasmus Islands enters with the well-known NSC 6 2nd-placer, which I also believe can pass, while Genext's balladish Dutch song and TaA's Malaysian song might go at this stage...

[center:3s00pa0t]Pre-song Prediction:
ZOIDIAC
RASMUS ISLANDS

------------------------
GENEXT
TÍR AN ABHAINN
[/center:3s00pa0t]

Unfortunately, this is all I have time for :(
I might update Groups EFGH, but it;ll be after the results I imagine xD

Re: NSC World Cup Contest - The Group Stage (RESULTS AT 20CET!)

The results for groups A-D will be revealed first!
Each country will play all the other countries in its group, and the top 2 will pass. A win = 3 points, a draw = 1 point.
In the event of a tie, the country with the highest goal difference will pass. If they have the same goal difference, the country which was chosen as a favourite (3pts from a country in the same group or 1pt from a country in a different group) the most times will pass. If this is also the same, the country with the most 3s will pass.

Here are the scores from the first round of matches:
Ivory Coast - Sweden 1-1
Madagascar - Venezuela 0-0
South Africa - Estonia 0-3
Cape Verde - Chile 1-1
Kazakhstan - Austria 6-1
Angola - Trinidad & Tobago 1-2
Faroe Islands - Netherlands 4-1
Malaysia - Barbados 3-3

Kazakhstan gains an astonishing early lead, while 4 other matches end in a draw.
