Re: NSC World Cup Contest - Finals & 3rd place match DL 14th Aug
Woo at last Faroe Islands won, it was the best song by far.
The 3rd place match was very bad as i didn't like any of the songs at all from the very beginning =/
Congrats to Dan for being such a good co-host and covering up any technical difficulties (which i mostly make) very quickly
Congrats to you too for your hosting
Here are the full results for various stages (Luke has the rest):
First of all, the tournament tree
Next, the full results for groups A-D
For people who still aren't sure about the system used for this, i'll explain it again.
What you see here is the total points that each country had from the voting. These points were used to pit the countries against each other in 'matches', where the goal difference in the match equals the difference in total points -1. So for example the goal difference for Ivory Coast vs Madagascar would be 1 in favour of Ivory Coast, and the goal difference for Ivory Coast vs Sweden would be 0.
Because of the "-1", it is possible for countries to have a difference in total points given of 1 but have the same number of points from wins and losses against other countries. However, because of the difference in total points, the goal differences in their matches against the other countries would be different, and so goal difference would decide which country is higher.
If the total points of 2 (or more) countries is the same (and so goal difference must also be the same), then the tie is broken by counting the number of top points given to that country (this is 3s from countries in the same group and 1s from countries in different groups). If this is also the same - which never happened as far as i remember - then just count the number of 3s to break the tie.
I hope this explains it. It's complicated, but i've explained it fully now
Now we see the full results for the round of 16
And here are the full results of the final + 3rd place match
Luke should have the resuls for groups E-H, the quarter finals and the semi finals
