To be honest, I don't see why our world's standards for what flags should and should not look like need to be applied to a fictional universe? The rules and regulations for heraldry in our world is not something that's always been set in stone since the big bang, but has evolved through the course of history and is of course completely made up by humans just like us. I think that's the beauty of this contest, that we can create our own country, culture and flag and have it look any way we want. And i was talking about the whole flag. And it's just a thing that always bothered me. Flags is the kind of graphics that need to be clean and aesthetic. And the average NSC flag is neither. Major problems:
- overall quality: sharp edges, lack of symmetry where it should be
- pictures (compare the animals of Ansmum and Llama to see what I mean)
- too many flashy, bright, badly matched colors
- graphic effects like gradients, etc. (Bigicia would've been the best flag of the lot if not the random grunge brushes)
I can agree about mismatched colors, however.
