Congratulations New Acadia!

Let me reveal Yaponesia’s votes, which were sent via gmail because the host’s inbox was full, and unfortunately I was 28 minutes late.

12 POINTS: NEW ACADIA
10 POINTS: RAHASIA-DIATI
08 POINTS: INSOMNÉA
07 POINTS: SERENES
06 POINTS: SVOBODNIA
05 POINTS: BEGONIA
04 POINTS: REYM-L-DNEURB
03 POINTS: CHERNIYA
02 POINTS: ENDÓRË
01 POINT..: TYBALTEVA

Relieved that they don’t make too much of a difference, especially as my 12 still won!

I do want to say something, without coming across as complaining, about the strictness in the final. I say this knowing full well that I’m a regular late voter, and that my votes could’ve and probably should’ve been rejected way more often than this. (Including the semifinal for this same edition). I’m incredibly grateful every time to hosts who accommodate this (esp those who had to change their intended plans e.g. results right after the deadline). I know I’m not entitled anything, so this isn’t a complaint about that.

However, it was upsetting to find out my votes were rejected only just before the results (a day and a half after I sent them), as well as after my forum post giving a heads’ up was ignored. I would’ve been late anyway (so this isn’t an excuse), but the fact that the host’s inbox was full also added to the delay. This time, unlike other times, it felt like I was being punished simply for being late, rather than due to the inconvenience caused to the host. Maybe I deserved that, I know that the “deadlines are deadlines” mindset is important to some people…

But anyway, I know none of us are entitled to a deadline extension, especially when the host is so busy. But communication, consistency and reason behind strict decisions would help to prevent the awful sucker punched feeling I have now. I wake up every week at 4am to complete my votes. Yes, maybe I should do it a day earlier. Yes, maybe I shouldn’t be participating if I don’t have time in my schedule to vote. This experience has certainly made me consider that more.

In any case, I don’t want to take away from the rest of the edition. Oualid, thank you for the show and for accepting the semifinal votes. And I’m sorry again that I was late in the final and you couldn’t accept them, for whatever reason.

See you in NSC 218!
