I was clearly in a bad mood when I listened to the snippets of these songs, as there are now a good few that are really tickling my fancy in quite a big way listening to the full versions...
Ladybug - Hot As Hell In Paradise (9/10)
@RainyWoods hit the nail on the head with the Army of Lovers comparison - melodically, this is definitely in that vein with the ever rising bass and chord progressions, giving a very dynamic flow, and the use of the word "crucified" in the chorus likely helps to reinforce that comparison too. I also adore the simplicity and catchiness of the "oh-oh-oh" refrain after the main chorus, as well as the choral backing singers. This is just a bit of me - although there is something lacking that I can't quite put my finger on to stop it from getting a perfect score.
Well that's fun - the forum erased the rest of my comments on the songs... Will leave the other scores here and quick comments, as too tired to re-type...
Nataleen - The Game (8.5/10)
Klara Hammarstrom and Alessandra comparisons aside, this surely will be a YEAH YEAH FIRE performance. I always love some Viking energy from Norway.
LLL - Parasite (8/10)
Very cool electro K-pop inspired bop, but too many weird composition choices that ruin the overall flow and the vocal effects give me concerns for the live performance.
Kyle Alessandro - Lighter (8/10)
This needs to camp it up, and it could be great. Verses are a bit too static and generic, but the chorus is decent and the swordplay dance break will be a moment!
Tone Damli - Last Song (7/10)
Way more generic and cut-and-paste than I'd hoped, despite the great little Daft Punk/Stardust homage in the intro. Just a little too close to the MF reject factory to win I think.
Wig Wam - Human Fire (5/10)
It's like we're back in the late 2000's and we're getting the kind of rock that Scandi delegations think the Eurovision audience wants to hear. Meanwhile, countless better current rock and metal bands from Scandinavia look on in confusion... Nice for a little retro kicks but no for ESC.
Bobbysox - Joyful (4/10)
See Wig Wam's comments but replace 2000's with 1980's and replace rock/metal with schlager... No chance this would qualify.
Nora Jabri - Sulale (3/10)
It's an okay addition to a summer Spotify playlist for sipping drinks by the pool. Little more.
Sondrey - Vagabond (2/10)
See above.
