I thought we had all agreed to send no more bitter divorce duets like this.

Really not much to say otherwise. Predictably competent vocals, probably gonna get some jury votes for that, but utterly forgettable and unengaging to me. I don't even get what sort of mood or emotion they're trying to convey, it seems bitter but somewhat celebratory at the end, and the title - "Burning Daylight", what does that even mean? It's the kind of thing people who don't know English make up just to sound cool, no thanks.

It reminds of one of these insincere Roxette album filler ballads, but I feel like this song is not even quite Roxette filler material.

Burning daylight is completely competent English though it just means wasting time

Yeah, Roxette is (was) one of my top 3 bands of all time but these filler ballads were so annoying!

Melanie Wehbe from Sweden would have made a great Roxette song  Pity she was left in the Semi.

This one starts exciting but like a balloon it falls flat right before the chorus. It’s nice but Coldplay on a budget and even Coldplay is Coldplay on a budget at times!

Why don’t we have the video linked here in the thread yet?

Weirdly enough, the beginning of the song leading into the first chorus reminded me of Cheryl's floptastic single "Only Human".

I have to change my vote from 10 to :7: points. It's a cute song but boring. I have no desire to listen to that song again. I think Netherlands won't qualify this year.

I love this song and really hoping it qualifies. Does anyone know if they are decent live performers?

Netherlands is one of my favourite countries in Eurovision. I do tend to enjoy the moodier entries. For the same reason I usually enjoy Belgium.

It seems to me that they're trying very hard to sound deep, but somehow fail in the end. You can see the message they are trying to convey, but the lyrics are just not up to the task. It's also a non-event.

I was singing the pre-chorus and chorus the whole day. I don’t know where to place that song. I like it but I wouldn’t vote for it. I like it but it’s not in my top 10. I like it but I won’t be sad if it does not qualify. I like it and I will play it on Spotify after Eurovision. Yet I really can’t feel a connection between this and Eurovision. It’s actually the only song this year that neither gets a top score (12-10 points) from me nor less than 7 points which I usually give to songs I don’t like or I do find boring. It’s basically my only 7-8 points range song.

After we got all songs for 1 semifinal, I start to build my rankings and I come to this song. It's definitely beautiful song and I would call it touching. But its really a hard task to say what result it will get. It could be Estonia 2015 but also it could easily be Spain 2018. It will strongly depends from staging and I wish best of luck to :nl:, my #1 last year. :7: in the poll with room to elevate it in May.

I think this might be the only Song that got lucky with Semi 1. After listening to recaps, this actually sticks out even though it’s one of the less memorable songs for me, because it’s one of few entries that’s not „high energy“. Also, I was surprised to find out that I like this more and more with each listen. Let’s just say The Netherlands could surprise people in the end. However, I am also biased because I love the name Dion way too much.

In the "Who will qualify?" thread I listed NL as the last qualifier. Imho there is a good chance they can make it.

It’s a very simple and something I can see some people voting for. In the last years classic duets didn’t stand a chance because they were too cheesy.

But look at the Common Linnets or Norway 2015, for example. These simple raw interactions between two people [who are actually telling a story instead of drooling over each other, smiling or even kissing on stage] are always on the popular side with the audience. So there might be a little chance, who knows. Depends on the staging I guess.

This evening Teya and Salena performed at a filmed acoustic live session "Arcade".

I disliked the song at first, but now that I listened to every song, I dislike it slightly less, because almost everything sucks this year. :ROFLMAO:
