i'm regularly checking this thread so yeah

I divide all Eurovision history into 4 parts :
1. Vintage Era (1956 - 1964 years)
2. Golden Era (1965 - 1985 years)
3. Transitional Era (1986 - 1999 years)
4. Modern Era (After 2000 year)

After this thread I want to continue with other ranking. On this moment of time I try to choose between Golden and Transitional Eras, also there is the alternative choice (Melodifestivalen 2000 - 2016).

ooooh this is my chance to post about how i divide the eurovision years

FIRST ERA: 1956-1974; the era ends with abba winning (the most impactful event in the show's history) and the advent of the current scoring system
SECOND ERA: 1975-1997; the era ends with the introduction of the televote being successful and becoming the norm; also the language rule and the orchestra end one year later so 1998 is a very transitional year
THIRD ERA: 1998-present? i actually believe we might be in fourth era already but as usual with history it will take a few years to decide which year truly denotes a change in the show. right now i'd say fourth era started in 2013 but i'm not sure yet

I just discovered this thread. Interesting, but dont know what to think about the ranking. Of course we all have different taste. But what makes me frown is that some great vocal performances have ended near the bottom. A song like Molitva was far from a favourite of mine. But I will never deny that Marija's vocal performance was stunning on the night - and thus Molitva would never place in the bottom half of my lists. The same goes for Dami Im, Jamala, Dina Garipova, Conchita, Aminata - and many others that are placed (ridiculously) low.
ESC is certainly a song contest. But the live performance (and thus the performer) on the night also counts in my book.

The Slovenian success (12 songs are in top 250, more than any other country have ) is a very unpredictable result even for me.
