There's probably also the fact that the average voter probably wouldn't get or vote for a song in Arabic so maybe the broadcaster thinks participating would be pointless

They should learn about diaspora voting

I find the language factor an unusable excuse. Moroccan singers can also sing in English, French or Spanish (the former is the current "world language"; the latter are secondary languages in the country - the former due to past colonial rule and the latter due to the large number of Moroccans who enter Spanish territory and choose to reside there). Morocco would get, like Turkey in the past, a very heavy vote from the diaspora and in any case the vote of the jury and the Rest of the World would guarantee some points. Diplomatic ties... I find that to be another excuse. There is not only Israel in the competition, but also other and more than 40 nations. I can agree that lewd jokes and skimpy clothing might annoy Islamic decorum (although Morocco is less extremist than Saudi Arabia and Qatar). The main explanation for the lack of Moroccan presence (if not in the form of sponsors) is due to the 0% interest of the Moroccan people and to a culture distant from that of Europe which does not lead them to love the Eurovision Song Contest (apart some sporadic fans).

Hum, women's dressing probably doesn't have anything to do with it, we're not Qatar or Saudi Arabia

The fact Israel participates is maybe a bit of an issue, yeah okay relations are diplomatic but the general opinion of Moroccan's people is clearly not friendly to Israel

yeah yeah I know that Morocco is more liberal than Qatar for example but still... I'd say many people in Morocco would find some of the dresses really inappropriate.

It all depends on what the government of Morocco want to show to their people. I don't really believe they want to show that they are part of Europe with a liberal mindset and some love for the LGBTQ+ community, so they will not join. But I might be wrong.

It just depends on the situation.

If women dressing on skirts shorts jeans, short sleeves etc are pretty acceptable in public

But the main thing that makes it inappropriate would obviously be for example shorts being too short or top is like a crop top etc.

But going to the beach, nightclubs, swimming pools it's pretty acceptable just as long in public streets its not showing indecency
