I was a little surprised that Moldova didn't break 100 points from the televote. I feel like it kind of underperformed by Moldova's televoting standards.

This still remains my favourite performance in ESC this year. His final performance was even better than the one in the semi.

It’s a pity countries that are mid table are so neglected during the voting. Moldova for example wasn’t even shown the whole time once (except for when the points from the public were read but they weren’t spectacular nor bad so they just quickly moved on). He deserved his moment a bit longer.

Well take those Romanian, French, Ukranian and Italian diaspora votes and you wouldn't get a much better result 22nd that is.

Moldova was 8th in the Average Televoting, so without Diaspora, they would do even better.
And btw Moldova 14 was last Place in Frances Televoting, Moldova 21 was 18th in Ukraines Televoting and only 9th in Italys Televoting, so Diaspora where?

Well, as seen with Serbia diaspora doesn't vote for just anything, why would anyone vote for the worst performance of 2021 - "Sugar"? Being 9th in Italy alone proves that diaspora plays a role.
And I'm not referring only to diaspora but also to the current political climate which is why Ukraine supported Moldova.

Serbia would have got around 0 Televotes, if their Diaspora didnt support him. Or do you seriously think his Points came from neutral People, while he was Bottom5 almost everywhere? At least they didnt exaggerate this Year. Croatia being in the Final also didnt help. Moldova obviously had broader Appeal, so to assume he would have got 0 Points from Italy or Ukraine without their Diaspora-Support is out of Touch with Reality. On the other Hand, Countries like Serbia, Portugal, Lithuania really would have had around 0 Televotes without their Diaspora Support.

Yeah, I completely agree with you haha...
Still, without diaspora, they wouldn't have done that well. Definitely not in the top 10 with the televote.

Diaspora vote aside, Pasha's song was a good product, a perfect blend of ethnic and modern. Nothing striking but pleasant to listen to. I think the most important element was Pasha himself. He is a singer with experience, theatricality and above all a lot of charisma. Without him the song would have lost 70% of its strength.
I open a small parenthesis, although Eastern music has small similarities in various cultures, it seemed clear to me that Moldova borrowed the idea from Ukraine. Mainly GoA were the inspiring muses of Pasha: the dark forest, the mystical atmosphere and the ethnic sound mixed with the modern. In a minor form the Kalush with the choice of the "flute stroke".
I end my review by stating with great pleasure that "Moldova knows how to make music". For several years this small nation has managed to be original and above all to entertain us. The only flaw of Moldova? That his musical signature is always the same. They are too anchored in the "joke genre" and the "ethnic genre". Going off these tracks could lead the "famous little train" to derail towards the bottom of the rankings.
