As per eurovision.tv

Maltese broadcaster PBS has revealed the rules for their national selection for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. The three stage process will culminate in February.

The first phase of the Maltese national selection, Eurosong 2010 is to be held between the 9th and 12th of November where 36 semi-finalists will be chosen. The songs can be sent in till the 30th of October and can be performed and written by only Maltese citizens, including dual citizenship. Singers can only perform one song, the song writers have no such limits.

The second stage will be televised and will take place between the 25th of November and 30 of December. In this phase, a jury together with the televoters, who have two members in the seven-member jury, will choose twenty finalists.

The final of Eurosong 2010 will be held next February. The winner is to be selected via a shared voted of a professional jury and the viewers. They both will have a 50% say in the result.

Malta achieved the 22nd place in the Final of the 54th Eurovision Song Contest this year with Chara's What If We.

I don't think that prohibition of foreign songwriters is a good thing (I'm pro-collaboration) but I wish them all the best. Maybe it's a good thing to give Maltese songwriters a chance. Will it result in a better quality? We'll see.

They aren't semi finals per se, as there is not a guaranteed number qualifying from each show, the 36 songs are taken as a whole. Last year there were a few evenings where no songs qualified at all.

I am so happy that LAWRENCE GRAY is back!!! I had lost interest in Eurosong and Eurovision, but now that Lawrence is back, I can't wait!!!
Lawrence Gray has a really beautiful, powerful and unique voice. He is in a class of his own. He is rightly known as "The Man WIth The Golden Voice". Lawrence Gray had come twice 2nd in the Malta Eurosong:- in 1999 with "The Right Time" and in 2003 with "Why Not".... I really hope that this will be "The Right Time" for him and for Malta!!!! "Why Not"???

I finally had a chance to listen to this and I must say Klinsmann to me has the most potential although 'change' & 'mirage'are nice slow songs and you know how I feel about a good ballad.

Aldo Busuttil came 5th in 2005, Claudia Faniello came 12th in 2006, out in the semis in 2007, both 2nd and 3rd in 2008 and 4th in 2009. Godwin Lucas was 9th in 2003 and also took part in all years from 1991 to 1996. Glen Vella came 6th in 2005, out in the semis in 2008 and came 3rd as a part of Q last year.
