Re: MALTA 2012

I remember last year, my favorite song was by Jessica Muscat, but this year I'm too lazy to listen through all the songs right now.
Lazy (sexy) ass  With skipping everything boring it takes less than 10 mins.

ok. Claudia Faniello is my main disappointment. Never liked Fabrizio :*)

My faves are:

Jessica Muscat - she's gonna stand out with such song but she doesn't look confident, imo.
Danica Muscat - not the best song but she's charismatic, imo this can be the best option for Malta.
Richard Edwards - mmm, he's a cutie. Very British, imo. But it can be very risky though, we've already had such songs, not sure if he can qualify.
Dorothy Bezzina - It's cute. Sounds like a demo of a Swedish song for Azerbaijan ))) Maybe it will work well in Baku.

I just looked at the stats for last year's Maltese NF. My favorite song got 0 points from both the juries and the televote. :p
I guess I have bad tastes.

Don't worry, I'll listen to the songs later! I still have to listen to the Finnish songs too. D:

Re: MALTA 2012

With Malta you have to expect either a ballad or a cheezy pop song. So accepting those terms I would say that Dorothy Bezzina's song is probably the song that has a lot of potential. It's catchy, memorable and it's repetitive enough for viewers to sing along. So based on the snippets this may be my favorite song.

Fabrizio's song is actually not as bad as I expected it to be. Currently my 2nd favorite but I need to be able to listen to the full songs.

According to me... Malta best options: Faniellos, Klinsmann, Wayne Micallef, Richard Edwards, Eleanor Cassar. ;-)

But sincerly, Gianni Zammit is good too!

Victoriya Petryk took the 2nd place @JESC and she's miles more confident. Alyosha didn't participate in any fests almost and she looked more confident still than Danica. Danica didn't look confident in that preview at all. She needs more knowledge and experience.
All of that^ is a "standard". Thousands and thousands performers go through auditions and festivals. Maybe she was very nervous, then it's ok and it can be explained.

... you should have added the "cheesy" in front of the ballad because both their ballads and pop entries have been cheesy.

Because of this I have to pass unfortunately. Hopefully they surprise us but I doubt it.

Re: MALTA 2012

This has to be one of the most dreadful Maltese line-ups in a while. Unless all of the songs in 2012 suck, they are destined non-qualifiers imo.

As long as we don't get some schizo aerobic song like vodka.... I can even accept the cheesyness...

BTW I read Claudia and Fabrizio Faniello... Is that really the list for 2012??? I think I'm living a dejà vu... :?

Not dejà vu, this is Malta we're talking about.

To be fair though it's a tiny country so they don't have that many to chose from anyways.

Re: MALTA 2012

Familiar faces from 2011 selection return

*2011 runner up Richard Edwards has made it through again, he lost by only one point to Glen Vella's One Life and will be hoping to make it one step further and take the Baku ticket in 2012.

*Kurt Calleja finished in third place in 2011 behind Glen Vella and Richard Edwards and has been successful in making the semi final stages this year.

*Claudia Faniello has been trying since 2006 to win the Maltese national selection, and has been close on a number of occasions in the past.

*Fabrizio Faniello represented Malta in the 2001 and 2006 Eurovision Song Contests, and finished in 4th place in the 2011 Maltese national final.

*Amber, Anna Azzopardi, Eleanor Cassar, J Anvil, Jessica Muscat, Klinsmann and Wayne Micallef also participated in the 2011 national selection.
